That's not what people are doing. They are holding GGG fans accountable for their outrageous predictions before the fight and their over exaggerated sense of where GGG is in the sports landscape.

Too many of those guys are trying to spin this. If HBO made money, great. But this wasn't just about making money, this was to gauge where GGG was as a PPV entity.

He failed to meet the sales level of the most recent big stars in their debut. That's just a fact. Obviously his diehard fans will interpret this differently and draw different conclusions than the rest of us.

What is wrong with discussing the fact that he didn't meet expectations?

Event was a huge success. That crowd was ROCKIN' for GGG. Electric atmosphere. 20,000 people showed up for GGG. There was maybe like 100 Kazakhs. Max. Probably less then that.

If Kovalev -Ward happens, where does GGG go from there if he can't get Canelo-Cotto?

So the 97k was a lie probably some Floydfart who jumped on the Ward bandwagon, 150k isn't bad for a non-american and Canadian.

Come on King, no it wasn't. There are reports this sold 97k (glazer so its likely BS) to under 150k. That is not a good number for a guy who some of his fans see as the face of the sport. There were some positives-sell out, merchandise sales.

It doesn't help his negotiating position with Canelo or Cotto, and now makes the things he and his team said regarding the Ward situation utterly ridiculous. He comes of as a little guy acting like a big boy.

Unlike the other ppv stars, he lacks a great win before going the PPV route. He needs this.

I do think the replay should do well.

How convenient that they only needed 150000 buys to be considered a successful PPV. HBO'S Fight Game stated otherwise.
Fact is anyone who knows boxing knew that was a mismatch. Also Golovkin did not deliver on his "big drama show" promise. Golovkin was tentative like he was told you cannot give this guy a chance.

I think Canelo and Cotto would have taken Lemieux out faster. That's not to say I believe either guy is a better puncher than Golovkin. I just think they have more skills and tools.

David Lemieux sucks. Once you realize that, you realize it wasn't a great performance.

Rick Glazer tweeted that out yesterday-you know the guy you and others say is very credible anytime he gives a PPV number for Floyd that is less than reported.

ppv should only happen when you have 2 major forces meeting in the ring and proven global boxers....golovkin is a beast but he is not a proven PPV attraction yet and lemeuix will never be one........I think it could be the demise for ppv future events if they are not epic match ups.....it was not a ppv event in a lot of people's eyes.......even in the UK the maximum we pay at Sky for a showcase is £20....that's 28 dollars....you lot pay $50 minimum.....God forbid the $90 for the mayweather pacquaio fight.....I remember going to see hagler vs hearns on the big screen now that was a ppv

The same people that are complaining about people making fun of the numbers, are the same guys that said Ward is a nobody who fights on BET and doesn't deserve a shot. ggg flopped and now we see his real worth. I bet Ward is no longer interested because there is no money with Golovkin; probably more money with Kovlev. Hopefully he goes that route, and once his exclusive is up with HBO he goes and fights the PBC stable.
