How many PPV buys u think GGG vs Ward does? GGG vs Lemieux wasnt a PPV fight. Anyone who knew abt boxing knew GGG was going to blow him away. If it did 150k its pretty good.

GGG is becoming a star thats one thing for sure. He has ads for Apple and heard abt Nike ( dont know if its true ).

I think GGG has a chance to become the next superstar but he needs to get into a real fight and win it. Canelo and Cotto dont want none so he will have to move up at some point.

This is one of those things where if it would have done 100k, then Loeffler would have said they actaully planned for 100k, and so on. Definitely seems like damage control. So GGG's first foray into PPV bombed, all well, maybe next time try not exaggerating your fighters popularity while at the same time degrading another's, and maybe that crow wont taste as bad.

I expect that if GGG actually gets the fight against Cotto or Canelo, it would definitely boost his popularity, but really, how much? You see people don't take the time to actually brake down the numbers. It is my "opinion" based on the numbers that GGG will not be a PPV star.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.
15 PPV's - 19,609,000 buys, averaging just about 1.218 million views for his career. With 8 fights over 1 million, including 2 fights over 2 million, and 1 fight over 4 million. Mayweather's PPV numbers are truly an anomaly, and I don't believe we'll see numbers like this from one fighter ever again.

Manny Pacquiao
21 PPV's - 17,865,000 buys, averaging just under 866K views for his career. With 7 fights over 1 million including one fight over 4 million.

Oscar De La Hoya
18 PPV's - 15,420,000 buys, averaging just under 742K views for his career. With 4 fights over 1 million, including 1 fight over 2 million.

Miguel Cotto
8 PPV's - 5,025,000 buys, averaging just over 628K views for his career. With 2 fights over 1 million.

These men are considered the PPV kings of this era. The big numbers they each pulled were against opponents who already had built in, loyal fan bases, like themselves. More importantly, they're biggest fights were against each other. This is why I don't see GGG being a major PPV player, he doesn't have a built in, loyal fan base, which won't be helpful if he does fight Cotto or Canelo. And even if he did have the fan base, he doesn't have enough dance partners who can bring decent PPV numbers themselves.

Anyway, I'm rooting for GGG to become a star, and a Cotto/Canelo vs. GGG is looking to be a 500K-700K PPV which aren't bad numbers at all. Hopefully one of those fights happen.

A ward-Golovkin fight does at least 600k buys and to be honest I think that's fight HBO going go for if he can't get canelo-cotto winner, lee fight on ppv does nothing for HBO finically and if Saunders beats him that unification fight goes out the window, so now it's time to sit back and wait until after these next two fights at mw to get a clear view on triple g next path of his career, these low numbers could actually be a blessing and show him and his team that he needs to challenge himself and mw division not going do it casuals not as slow as we think and can see mismatches just like the guys who follow the sport closely
