Relative to the fight this past weekend-GGG was a huge favorite, the fight was anti climatic. I think the failure to meet expectations is the only interesting thing to discuss relative to this fight.

All I want to say is GGG isn't Mayweather yet, if they actually got 150,000 that is a good result, if Pacquiao is doing 400-500k buys these days. I mean lets be honest the beast is still growing, a PPV event against a Cotto or Canelo will draw at least 500k.

Per Boxingscene's P4P Top ten list, Ward is ranked ahead of GGG. So, in the most simple words, Ward would bring GGG his FIRST legitimate fight with a P4P FIGHTER who is ranked ahead of him. Ward would bring the chance for GGG to defeat his first top fighter on resume and that would lead to a chance for GGG to cement his ranking as a P4P fighter. GGG-Ward thats the fight were if GGG wins, he can position himself as the best fighter in the world with a WIN instead of just hype by fighting low level opponents. How can GGG fans be so reluctant for him to fight Ward??? I think I know now... Ward has the best chance of beating GGG and they dont want to see that.... smh

the decent GGG fans like you need to undestand Most of the reaction is directed toward the scumbag wing of GGG's fanbase-the trolls and race baiters- and Loeffler.

They all went a lil crazy with stuff about how big GGG is, a sides to ward, cotto and canelo etc etc., prior to the fight. As a result, post fight, no one is talking about the positives from the fight.
            This ^^

            Good comment Dunn.

Its very similar to the situation with Mayweather/Pacquiao.

Most of that flak was not aimed directly at Pacquiao.

And what we see now are the two extremes.

In this situation, like most situations, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Obviously HBO/K2/Team GGG, are a little disappointed with the result.....
but I'm not convinced that the event was anything close to a " failure ".

Golovkin has some work to do, thats all.

I hope that everyone involved recognizes where that work needs to happen.

Its not just that people didn't buy that fight, people aren't buying Golovkin.

I want less involvement from the marketing/PR ****s, and more involvement from the matchmakers..... Golovkin needs to rack up some names, and if he has to make some concessions and take some risks along the way, so be it.

Ward has been removed as p4p by the ring and now it's between golovkin and Gonzales .....but I'll say Gonzalez for now......ward is fighting roadsweepers and pork pie munchers.....Golovkin needs ward to prove himself again...2 fights in 3 years.....returning from injury . Unable to make 168 and is getting his ass called out by kovalev...tell your fighter to up his game before people forget about him...war golovkin

Get a grip and wise up?? okay, here I go...
The Ring Magazine rankings are always manipulated and biased, Boxingscene is more neutral when it comes to P4P rankings. Pound 4 Pound ranking are nothing but marketability for the fighters to use to hype their fights etc....As far as I know, we are on boxingscene forum not the Ring, therefore please click on this link ---> http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/view.php?pg=pound

-Andre Ward #3 >>>>>> GGG#4 (21 low level fighters KOed in a row) (except for Lemeux who was an average level champion). Andre Ward, although not as active as GGG, has MANY wins over Elite fighters. Ward would be GGG's FIRST legitimate opponent. GGG needs Ward and then (ONLY THEN) win or loose, I will be %100 fan of GGG. Right now, I am only %50 fan of him and I wish the guy would take over boxing but only by fighting top fighters.....

Ps: Andre Ward said he would like to face both GGG and Kovalev. Real boxing fans would like to see both fights instead of just hoping Ward leaves GGG alone by fighting Kova. Dont let the hype blind you.
