Or...maybe Ward doesn't want to experience the Paul Williams effect?

I've been thinking the same thing myself for a while now, that Ward either know's he can't hack it any more or has lost his desire to fight.Seriously though, it makes me wonder what's going on with Ward. He must have some confidence issues right now. Maybe his past injuries were worse than he led us to believe? No idea, but there has to be a reason for why he's trying to take on multiple soft touches and forcing these guys out of their own weight classes.Comment

First off, I don't think it's physical. He is a fit guy, doesn't really blow up between fights and always makes weight (whatever the stipulation). It may be the latter, maybe he just doesn't want to get in their with a live body any more or wants to be as tested as possible before a Kovalev or a GGG or a DeGale or a Stevenson.
Then again, fighting scrubs won't get him there. Ward looked out of sorts against Smith, even with someone who has limited power like Ward should have dropped Smith inside 5. It took him 9 right? It's not convincing to me, or to Ward himself, however his fans seem to think i twas "great".
I'd like Ward to be 100%, mentally and physically so we can get his fights against GGG/Kov and possibly Stevenson. They will be the difference between him being good and being great.Comment
