Yeah I think if the PPV is 50/50 then he'd likely make that sacrifice.

Third point: There's a large size difference between ward and GGG. Golovkin and Canelo are almost the EXACT same size, with Canelo usually weighing 3-4 pounds more on fight night.

I think Ward beats GGG. No need to argue with me about that. But it won't happen in the near future due to their size difference.

I think we know whether GGG can make 155 or not (he probably can), Canelo is just giving the runaround and doesn't want the fight. Wait for the 80/20 offer and Indian Casino venue in El Paso.
He's just pulling his A Side muscle and calling the bluff of someone that said he can make 154 like Floyd did to him when Canelo and team said they'd go to 150, Floyd actually gave Canelo 2 pounds and Canelo is giving GGG 1 pound. He has to beat Cotto 1st.

      • Not a surprise to hear him say that right now, but Alvarez has been shown to let public pressure push him towards fights and I hope that's the case here if he beats Cotto.

It would really suck if Golovkin got the WBC belt through upgrade rather than fighting. That just gives the idiots who love to talk about him not beating champions something else to talk about while ignoring that champions won't step in the ring with him.

        • All the GGG fans that talked about Ward having to bow down because he had no leverage and was the b-side are now throwing a fit because Canelo is doing the same thing to GGG.

You can't make any of this stuff up.

As I told poster One Punch yesterday-GGG is always going to be in ths spot until he steps up and beats a quality opponent. Floyd, Canelo , Cotto and Manny do not need GGG. GGG, if he wants to be a star, has to go out and beat the best and prove himself before the big names fight him.

No more excuses-Ward has an HBO deal. GGG and his team need to make that fight happen. Andy Lee and Tuareno Johnson are not going to cut it for real boxing fans.

The whole 164 cw is a moot point now as Ward is now a LHW and cant make 168 let alone 164. This fight is dead in the water until GGG moves up to SMW and Ward shows that he can still make 168.

            • Canelo is right: 155 lb catchweight... But he forgot to add: 162 lb rehydration clause for Golovkin and no rehydration clause for himself... An no PED testing whatsoever...

or, maybe he's remembering the sparring sessions against GGG.

Either way, this doesn't even make any ****ing sense, Canelo. The only reason why he would even want to do this is because GGG is an older guy and draining that much water weight when he's not used to it might potentially hinder his performance. The fact that Canelo weighs more than GGG and drains just as much water weight blows my mind. He's acting as disgraceful as JCC jr.
Na, didn't get terrified. He's just treating Lil G like the irrelevant nobody he is.

Like when they would've gave Froch a hometown fight at SMW on PPV(everything Froch wanted) and Froch chose to retire?
Because they wouldn't sign Ward's dumb**** "deal" agreeing on a 50/50 split for a fight next year...when Ward will be a LHW and GGG will be worth more money?
**** sake this place is crazy. How many of you can remember what you had for lunch yesterday? lol
Froch was on the brink of retirement before the GGG talk and don't make GGG sound like some warrior for being willing to go to Super Middle for Chavez Jr.

                  • Golovkin should not have to fight at 155 for a mandatory middleweight defense. The Canelo-Cotto fight is a voluntary title fight. It is slightly different. GGG should stand his ground but he will not get the payday nor will him being the full champion get him the fight either. He will continue to be ducked by the smaller guys. He needs to fight full blown middleweights. Go fight Quillin, Andy Lee, and Johnson. There are plenty of fights in his weight class with guys that will actually touch him with power that he has yet to fight. He picked on Mayweather who is too small to fight at 147. He was willing to fight Froch at 168 but told Ward he had to meet him at 164. Be consistent.

what proof do you have that Ward can't make 168? You think cotto and Canelo can make 154 and they have fought above that weight for a while.

You guys need to get it through your heads-the big names do not need to fight GGG. His path to stardom goes through Andre Ward.

Just because guys are avoiding GGG doesn't mean he gets to avoid Ward.
