I also agree with your other post that exclusive network deals hurt the sport now.
the thing is soccer game length is fixed.

a fight can be over in 10 seconds of the 1st round.

i think that's what hurts bad.

you sell a a 39-47 minute 10-12 round fight and get 1 round?

network tv dumped boxing not the other way around.

promoters didn't wake up one day and said "SCREW NBC AND ABC, I'M GOING TO USA OR SPIKE."

plus before PPV, not all fights were live on free tv.

you had to buy tickets and watch closed circuit.

How else are they supposed to make money? Network TV is limited, ratings are all over the place and as an example PBC viewership has been declining. If the viewership keeps declining it will ultimately lead to many networks not picking up fights and then what? Some fights are undeserving of PPV's but I don't mind paying for some good fights. Boxers risk their life and deserve a decent pay day at some point.

i wish there was a boxing on demand channel.

say 59.99 to see a big fight live. then 19.99 1 day after.

9.99 for good fights. 1.99 for small fights.

or better yet a monthly subscription boxing channel.

        say 9.99/19.99 a month.

you get every fight around the world.

Everything you said I agree with, except when you through in there arguably the biggest fight this year in Cotto vs Canelo which has been the most anticipated fight in the last two years (not counting Pac/Floyd). Canelo/Cotto is worthy of a PPV and I for one hope it is successful in the numbers/sales. I guess that makes me a fan boy right? I was also hopping for the GGG/Lemieuix fight to be successful and I didn't have a horse in that race. It's sad how now GGG fans are praying for the Cotto/Canelo PPV to flop, but they forget that the most loyal fans in boxing are Cotto and Canelos fans.

GGG vs Lemieux was a PPV purely cuz of reality of the economics involved. The 2 main fights commanded a purse of $4M. From things I've seen online about HBO's budget they currently are working with a $30M-$40M budget each year & their have been rumors HBO had budget issues for a few months already. This fight only happened cuz it was a PPV.

If they try to make Ward/Kovalev a PPV fight I'm going to go ape ****. These boxers who can't draw flies need to stay in their lane because they are not PPV attractions. Hopefully these PPV fights will slowly go away.
I'm 100% against PPVs so I completely agree. It's bad enough here in the UK but in the US it's even worse, everything is PPV these days. **** it and **** the networks trying to pull a fast one. Fans should just refuse to buy PPVs.

No one to blame but your damn selves...You dont support FREE boxing on national Television because you dont like the promoter...lol. If PBC was getting #'s, the public would tune in, because they hear about the #'s they would be pulling in. But because so many fan-boys are hurt when their fav doesnt win, they boycott other boxing cards because their feelings got hurt. You dont know if a fight is gonna be good before hand, so you have to just watch it and see, but thats only for the "real" boxing fans. BLAME YOURSELF
