I'm just speaking in general for a defense. GGG is now on high radar to whoever's going on his resume. What was Heiland's rank when they fought Monroe Jr.? Again I'm just going off what Sanchez or K2 sells their justifications to the public. Does anybody agree that Korobov or Heiland are more of a threat than Monroe Jr.? I wouldn't be surprised if team GGG chose Korobov this time around after he lost to Lee, because this buys time, and also it insinuates to the public that they are testing Korobov in readiness for Lee. Or whoever, because as I stated, K2 never ran their mouth again after the first Lee cancellation, and I even doubt that bout negotiation or contracts even existed. Lee was already holding the WBO belt before they choose Monroe Jr.
It doesn't make any sense why Sanchez said publicly that Monroe Jr, ranked 18th at the time, was the Southpaw to prove that GGG has the goods to fight anybody. This is what Sanchez said! When Lee, the #1 Southpaw holding the WBO belt, and after a first fight negotiation collapse, was never mentioned again! I mean where are the articles that Lee was ducking GGG?! Where is that drama in sports boxing?!
I see the time...
Lee was mandated to fight Saunders and could not fight anyone else (other than the step aside deal with Quillin when Saunders was injured), so callouts at that point by GGG would have been pointless. And its not GGG's fault that Lee-Saunders is now on like its 3rd or 4th date..........
GGG is superior to Lee in every way and he knocks Lee out in the early rounds in my opinion. Lee was knocked out by Chavez who is not remotely as good as GGG. If Lee was fighting GGG I think he would be about a 20 to 1 underdog in the betting.
That's the context, and Roc Nation won the bid. Aside from any of that, he had a newborn and his uncle died, which is no different than GGG cancelling the original Lee fight and K2 never speaking about it again. Double Standard Twilight Zone isn't it? Or is GGG only allowed excuses?
Thing about that is, he was on twitter talking about how he was looking forward to the bout (or some speech of that ilk). Haymon had him vacate, but it's not like Quillin protested.
I was a Quillin believer once upon a time (after N'Dam), but then he went on to fight a string of below-par opponents in Guerrero, Rosado and Konecny then vacated his title rather than fight Korobov before being gifted a draw against Andy Lee (that k/d was phantom).
I have no time for that kind of run. If that's Keith Thurman he's telling the world he wants better fights, same for Shawn Porter. Not Quillin though, he's Mr Businessman. Well fine, be that, just take the criticism that comes with it.

Lee has looked pretty dangerous lately, he has a puncher's chance of winning I think. Doesn't sound much, but most of the rest of the division don't even have that. Cotto, Quillin & Khytrov the possible exceptions.
Your sarcasm is so elite. Yeah lets see how K2 and Sanchez prepare and promote the defenses either conservatively or all out no less than top 2 in every council. If you were to fight someone, but then it gets cancelled, and you conveniently never try to promote it again...that could be considered as quack quack.
I keep telling people power does not beat GGG. You need very good skill, good chin, good defense and good boxing tactics. Murray was the best guy GGG has fought, I keep saying that, and i'm gong to repeat it: Murray will always be the best MW GGG will fight unless Canelo beats Cotto and he lets Canelo get another fight in against a MW to get used to MW, then i'd say Canelo. But as of right now, from the list of Murray, Quillin, Jacobs, Macklin, Geale, Lemiuex, Saunders, Lee - Murray is the best one. For GGG to fight his next big challenge it would have to be at 168 or Canelo after a couple of wins at MW. Abraham would especially be a good challenge if he gets past by Murray. But people keep saying "This guy got good power, he can win". No he can not, Lemiuex has good power but could not even beat Alcine or Rubio, cause he does not have the skill to back up that power. No one at MW stands out skillwise. Just Cotto and he is small.

You're contextualizing NOW, most of my reasoning was literally about their ''first fight'' negotiations and why they ran with it up until Monroe Jr. Just think of the Southpaws available at the time. Look at GGG in his earlier career fighting Southpaws. In those times, he wasn't facing elite level Southpaw fighters.

Golovkin whooped Korobov and Lee in the amateurs. In Lee's case, twice I believe.
Still, I'd be interested in see them fighting professionally. Another 2 KOs by Golovkin.
