Be honest, do GGG fans really think he can beat Ward and why?

To your original post. I think GGG can win but if he does largely depends on how Ward tries to fight him. If Ward makes it an inside fight, he definitley has the advantage as he is an absolutely fantastic inside fighter and GGG, we just don't know how he will deal with that. Edge to Ward here. If Ward tries to stay on the outside and box it will be the worst mistake of his career. I think GGG would stop him inside of 10 rounds if Ward tries to do that.
Ward never fights one way in a fight, that's what I like about him, Versatility

My odds are 60/40 that Ward wins.....GGG is a very good fighter and I agree Ward would have the advantage inside

GGG can track you down and box outside but Ward was a very good jab and is a very good counterpuncher outside.

Who ever makes the proper adjustments first, wins

60/40 says a lot about GGG

Of course Ward would be the favourite, hes a great fighter whos much bigger

Youd almost expect him to win

If they were both the same size, itd be totally different

If it happens I think it'd be a priority to ensure no foul play was allowed a good referee who is fair and firm and wont allow spoiling to be apart of their gameplan setup.

With that put in yes its a fight that GGG could win.

the only reason I even used 60/40 is because WARD has to get back to his proper form

If he was active like he was pre 2013 I'd have it 80/20....He was number 2 p4p in my eyes back then and showed it by the way he beat elite 168s with relative ease

Also GGG is a big question mark but I give him credit for how he dominates and took in account Wards inactivity

If they were the same size??? they've been one weight class apart most of their careers so size isn't really a factor in my book though it should be considered

ward's only advantage is his size, but that's a major advantage

Ward will play it on the inside, smother GGG's work and make it dirty, ultimately out pointing him. Murray took 3G 11(?) rounds, albeit through running and clinching. Ward however will take him the distance and win. I see neither guy knocking the other out; Ward lacks power to hurt Golovkin but he's to intelligent to get hurt himself.

And yes, GGG is easy to hit. Lemieux has poor accuracy anyway, normally connecting around 13% of jabs. He connected 18% on this fight. As you can see his overall connect % is just above what he scored against Golovkin.

*EDIT* to further add I don't see this fight happening. Ward will most likely move up and I think GGG is reluctant to move up himself.

There's a great point in the mailbag today:
The thing that impresses me the most is no one can win rounds on GGG. Since his fight with Proska, let’s count how many rounds he has lost. I can’t remember him clearly losing a round. For all the people who criticize him think about that. He’s fighting championship level fights and he’s probably won over 50 rounds in a row. In turn Felix Sturm and Sergio Martinez lost 35% of the rounds fought to the same level competition that GGG is completely shutting out.

Boxingwise it's a close fight with a slight edge in Ward's favor, but this is also a mental game, and from what we've seen from GGG himself and his camp, they're not that confident when it comes to Andre Ward and they wanna be one the safe A side if the fight happens so that if they lost they still made a lot of money from the fight.

Now is actually the best time for GGG to fight Ward, he should take advantage of Ward's inactivity and possible difficulties making 168 and make the fight happen right away, Ward is somehow still ranked P4P best fighter in the world according to some people, and if GGG moves up and beats Ward at 168 he'll become the best P4P without a shadow of a doubt. So it makes perfect sense for GGG right now, but instead they want to take the easy route of the winner of Canelo Cotto, 2 much smaller guys who don't have the style or the power or the punch resistance to be competitive against GGG, easy money. This just tells everything u need to know, GGG had to things 2 choose from

                    a) move up and beat inactive, perhabs weight drained Ward to become P4P #1 in a fight that can sell 400-500k PPVs

                    b) Wait 2 years for the winner of Canelo vs Cotto to grow some balls and fight him, this fight can sell 800-900k PPVs

If they thought that Ward is easy work, they would've taken advantage of Ward's situation, moved up, got the P4P crown, then moved back down again to 160 (since GGG is a "small" middleweight) to fight Canelo or Cotto, but they don't believe that they can definitley beat Ward.

His hardcore fans truly believe that Ward will definitley beat GGG in a 1 sided fight, that's why they get so emotional when Ward's name gets brought up, they get too defensive, oh Ward is a lightheavyweight, nobody asked GGG to fight him at 175, the fight is to be made at 168. Oh Ward is irrelevant cuz he's been inactive, well good then GGG should beat him easily! why not push for the best possible fight in boxing right now?
