Be honest, do GGG fans really think he can beat Ward and why?

He was dropped once and has dished out waaaaaay more than he has received

its a big deal that he got dropped because he hadn't been before and he was a prospect at the time, and he hasn't been dropped since

    He adjusts very well

He won the fight, he's won all his fights. If something was drastically bad, why hasn't he taken a loss? He has fought guys with solid power and won them all.

Difficult to call IMO. It's a fight I'd love to see cos I think it'd test both fighters to the limit.

Simply looking at the resumes isn't necessarily that helpful. Both fighters have been dominant against their opposition to date, so despite Ward having the bigger names on his resume the true ceiling of each has yet to be established.

I would argue that GGG would be the best boxing technician that Ward has faced by a margin (and for that matter that GGGs jab may well be as good or even better than Dre's when he elects to use it). Whether his skills equal those of Ward himself remains to be seen.

Ward's superior size and reach could be a deciding factor. GGG has shown himself able to deal with a larger guy in the clinch (Murray) and appears to have great physical strength and conditioning of his own, but Murray, of course, is not remotely on Ward's level.

We also need to see Ward back in the ring with some quality opposition - the likes of a shot Smith and untested Murdoch aren't really gonna tell us if Ward has lost a step through inactivity.

The uncertainties in this fight make it almost impossible to call for me, based on his size and success at the higher level I'm still inclined to lean towards the Ward UD, but any result would not surprise me. The one thing I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be would be the easy Ward victory many seem to predict - Golovkin is an exceptional boxer in his own right, not just some heavy handed AA clone.

Let's just pray this fkr gets made one day.

In this fight,I only see ward winning by making it a close, grappling, dirty fight, and winning a close but controvertial fight on points. If he decides to fight golovkin at a distance,I wouldn't be surprised if golovkin sets up his jab,and starts landing on ward. Even up close and dirty, ward would have to be careful with golovkins left to the body, and short right uppercut. It's honestly a 50-50 fight from a technical standpoint, but once you add gggs power into the mix,od say its 55-45 in favor of golovkin.

IMO Ward has the better jab, he does more things with it and is versatile with it.

There is no way GGG has a better outside game....Ward shown his skills against better comp and it was effective as it was aganst lesser guys so I give Ward the edge in those two

I can see why you picked GGG because he cuts of the ring so well and his jab is elite

andre ward was taking clean punches directly in the head from paul smith (2 or 3 times). in case of G one punch could be fatal. do you realize that andre ward never fought with a guy like GREAT G? i think you don't realize it. please dont tell me about abraham or froch. i know about them. they are nowhere near GREAT G's level.

Ward better be able to hurt GGG. Because he doesn't throw enough punches.

It's a good fight. The reason I see Ward losing to Golovkins are as follows:
-Ward is bigger, but according to boxrec, their reach is virtually the same (70 vs 71)
-Ward is likely to get knocked down at least once. Everyone Golovkin has fought has went down. I'm not saying he would be KOd, but at least one KD is highly likely
-Golovkin is not easy to hit. This rumour has been spreading widely for the past 2 months, but it's simply not true. Look up stats from any of GGG's previous fights. Here are some examples:
                http://www.insidehboboxing.com/insid...llie-monroe-jr
                http://compuboxonline.com/gennady-golovkin-2013-stats/
                Lemieux connected on 27%
-Golovkin is accurate. Not just against a standstill easy to hit target like Lemieux (50%+, I forget). He connected on 42% vs Murray and 38% vs Monroe.
-I don't see Ward knocking Golovkin out. Accounting for the probability of a knockdown, and maybe even getting a point deduction due to clinching, I don't see Ward winning 7 rounds from GGG to beat him. Golovkin is both faster and much more technically sound than Froch.

People need to realise that Boone, when he shows up to a fight, is a handful for any young fighter on the way up. This is the same guy that stopped Stevenson, took Pascal, Stevens and Lara the distance, and gave Kovalev a tough fight when they were on the way up. People need to quit looking at the guys record on boxrec and quit trying to make it seem like that something that happened a decade ago, at 160, is relevant.

To your original post. I think GGG can win but if he does largely depends on how Ward tries to fight him. If Ward makes it an inside fight, he definitley has the advantage as he is an absolutely fantastic inside fighter and GGG, we just don't know how he will deal with that. Edge to Ward here. If Ward tries to stay on the outside and box it will be the worst mistake of his career. I think GGG would stop him inside of 10 rounds if Ward tries to do that.

LOL, There is a REASON that Lil G, would fight Froch and Chavez Jr at 168, but would not dare fight Ward at 168, there's a REASON why he and his people have "walked back" that talk of 'anyone from 154-168' (remember that) HE DOESNT EVEN BELIEVE HE CAN...Ward will bully him all around the ring, thats why his fans try to bring up Kovalev, and when Ward beats Kovalev, lil g will go back to running away from Ward... Screw his fans He doesnt think he can carry Wards jockstrap, thats why this is sooooo funny...his fans "matthysse is a machine", "pac is gonna ko floyd".....

I'd figure Ward to be a 2-1 or so favorite. I think GGG could definitely win.
