People wanting Cotto to turn his back on a GGG fight, drop the belt, but he will still be viewed as their lineal, even after ducking his biggest challenge?
That's why the lineal tag can be a joke times. Posters who often post praise on fighters for achieving lineal status are now ok with fighters ducking their biggest challenge and protecting that lineal?

People wanting Golovkin to allow Canelo (should he beat Cotto) an extra fight to get to grips with 160 or it's not fair?

Crazy how people's dislike for certain fighters can mess with their stance.

Criticize a fighter for his lack of big fights, but then hope his scheduled big fights fall through. Makes sense.

He's not gonna go to 168 imo. Nobody there. He's not a big guy either. He can stay at 160 for a while. Hopkins fought Oscar at a cw, understood the magnitude of beating a guy like him and it paid off. Didn't affect him long term either. And I said Cotto is the man because fighting him if he beats Canelo is the biggest money fight for Golovkin. Floyd is gone, Cotto is now the cash cow should he win next month.

I can see your point, Cotto as a "cash cow" - yes. But regarding Hopkins-DLH, that fight looked shady to me, and what followed (them becoming business partners) only enforced this thought.

Canelo may take a fight against Golovkin. Honestly do not see Cotto doing it - which is bull **** because he had no problem facing a crippled Sergio, but can't fight Gennady? If that's true then that's fear based because Sergio was never a star attraction outside of the serious Boxing fans

Cotto never said he wouldn't face GGG, he said it will be on his terms.

Who do you think establishes title lineages in boxing ... God?

Boxing sites and boxing writers decide who the lineal champs are, and new lineages can be established whenever they believe it's necessary.

At this point in boxing history, the most influencial "they" are the Ring magazine.

If the Ring decides that Cotto or Canelo no longer have the right to be considered lineal champ of the MW division, because of refusal to face Golovkin, they will announce that and create a new lineage begining with GGG.

A few people would refuse to accept it, but that will make no difference. GGG will start calling himself the lineal MW champ, and that's how he will be billed and announced whenever he fights.

Who does Canelo fight if he vacates the WBC strap and Lineal. He goes back to 154, loses. Maybe he does, a rematch with Cotto.

My point was GGG will have all the same options as Canelo.

Canelo is under immense pressure to take this fight.
