That's not his choice ward man.....the simple fact the ring lineal champion is awarded by the ring magazine and them only....and the WBC has already stated no voluntary defences before the they have to meet golovkin.....that's if canelo avoids the fight with golovkin....canelo I imagine is not that sort of fighter to avoid his challenges and he did with Lara that he agreed to the fight....canelo if he says no he will not have a belt and besides who else can give canelo a big PPV besides golovkin....no one likes champions who don't accept there mandatory....it's about time boxing went back to how it was when you faced the best and you took your losses like a man......as I said the ring magazine has already said they will follow suit if the WBC strips the winner of canelo and cotto if they avoid there mandatory....champions should act like champions it's that simple...with no belt what exactly will a guy who insists n catchweights do with out a championship belt...wake up ward man

Sounds like Lil G and his fans are in need of a big PPV not the other way around. 150K, what superstar-cash cow has ever done those numbers?

Damn FMJ didn't have all this push when he did his first PPV and did triple the numbers. Manny did triple the numbers against Algeri.

Who do you think establishes title lineages in boxing ... God?

Boxing sites and boxing writers decide who the lineal champs are, and new lineages can be established whenever they believe it's necessary.

At this point in boxing history, the most influencial "they" are the Ring magazine.

If the Ring decides that Cotto or Canelo no longer have the right to be considered lineal champ of the MW division, because of refusal to face Golovkin, they will announce that and create a new lineage begining with GGG.

A few people would refuse to accept it, but that will make no difference. GGG will start calling himself the lineal MW champ, and that's how he will be billed and announced whenever he fights.

lol...no only way a lineage can be broken is if the lineal champ loses,retires or moves out of the division,..

The Lineal can be stripped. Since Goldenboy owns Ring, it's doubtful it will happen.

But don't think that everyone won't know about it.

Cotto and Saul are going to do GREAT ppv numbers. Both are going to agree on a rematch and make MORE $$$$. Then Floyd is going to get bored and want some more cash and the limelight... They did say that if the cotto and canelo fight ends closely and controversially and they rematch they will wait till cotto and canelo have sorted there business..probably Oscar is plotting a draw or bad decision so he gets one more big payday before they have to face the bogey man ...just accept Larry the lamb

Canelo doesn't really care about belts or Lara wouldn't still have one. Saul would fight GGG but ODH won't let him until he fights at least two MWs. And sees how he handles that.

It does to the Ring magazine. The Ring champion is whoever they consider to be the lineal champion, simple as that.
