    So: GGG had to give up a fight for the IBF belt and another possible one for the WBC and lineal in order to start negotiations with Ward on what, precisely?

      It's about time Ward fights a big fight!

      Kovalev and GGG are the premier fighters out there , oh sure there is a multitude of good fighters! They are hot and both would destroy Ward

        He had to do no such thing.

        I completely understand why you and Golovkin object to that fight.

            Dear god, hope Duva does a better job promoting this than all the other fights
            Ward is having a fight announced tomorrow?

              Personally, I think that they should be abolished, with no exceptions.

              With 17 divisions today catchweights are completely unnecessary.

              We can all see that they are being abused.

              But, if you live by the sword you die by the sword, and Cotto weighs 153.

              Cotto could fight Golovkin at 160, no question..... but if we are ever going to accept/allow catchweights, EVER..... then a guy who weighs 153 is justified when requesting one from a guy who weighs 160.

              I dont care about the title/lineage, and I doubt that Cotto does either.

              I just want a fair fight. We all know that Cotto is not a middleweight, he picked up some ABC belt by winning a money fight against Martinez.

              Also, Golovkin did not duck Ward, but he used that 164lb catchweight demand to avoid that fight and then justified it by stating that he was the "A-side". so.... ?

              I feel that based on the fact that Golovkin had no problem with demanding a catchweight from Ward, he should likely meet the 153lb, a-side, legend that is Miguel Cotto at least halfway.
              Explain to me then, how Ward-GGG is a fair fight?

              Ward is a much bigger man. GGG isn't even a big middleweight. The weight you want him to fight at as literally his walking around weight. GGG was 165 30 days away from the weigh in

              Are you still sore about Team GGG's hype about 154-168? I can't believe you fell for it

              If GGG held a title in Ward's division, then it'd be fair game. But he doesn't. Cotto picked up a title, and has defended it. I wouldn't be surprised if GGG accepted a 157 catchweight for the money. He wouldn't struggle too much making it

                You will not be able to flip-flop on that post.

                Cotto is obviously smaller, he weighed 153.

                You should be prepared to stand by the ethics/morality of your post.
                No, GGG has never called out Canelo or Cotto. In fact, I don't think he has ever called out any specific boxer, by name.

                All he has said is that he is the mandatory challenger for the WBC title, and he wants his shot, at the divisional limit of 160lbs.

                If Cotto weighed in at 153 to defend against GGG at 160 that would be a very dumb mistake on his part, but not GGG's problem.

                    Golovkin, said this.....

                    * I will fight anyone from 154-168
                    * I will fight Froch at 168
                    * I will fight Chavez at 168

                    * Ward would duck the fight
                    * Ward would run for 12 rounds
                    * I would KTFO Ward

                    Aside from the shht talking, the bold is your problem.

                    It was fair for Golovkin to fight Froch/Chavez at 168, and it was fair for Team Golovkin to ride on Wards name by stating that he would duck the fight, would run, and would get KTFO.

                    I will turn it aound on you, why is that fight not fair?

                    Froch/Chavez at 168 was " fair ".

                      Froch/Chavez weren't fair fights. The money made them lucrative

                      You're still sore about about team GGG's statements re: 154-168. Most other sensible people didn't fall for it, but you did

                      You've learnt now, so let it drop
