There are a number of posters that have very strong opinions that PBC is failing. I think this suggests they are not as bad as people think.

Some on NSB judge PBC relative to ratings of major sports and TV shows and suggest the low ratings means failure.

Perhaps, the better way to look at it (and maybe the way FOX and others in TV look at it) PBC gets 250k people to watch boxing when the fighters are not big names, there isn't a strong lead in and promotion is minimal-what could be done with better spots, a strong lead in, and more promotion.

I continue to be confused why anyone with an account on this site is opposed to PBC succeeding if they are a diehard fan of the sport.

Look my posts up, I don't hate on the man. I enjoy PBC with the exception of it's sterilized presentation format. No ring girls, stale boxer entrances...I merely call a spade, a spade.

meanwhile, you on here waving Haymon's flag like you're bought and paid for. like you have a vested interest in PBC. like you have a dog in the fight. just pointing out your possible agenda.

      spade/spade.

As a I learned in a discussion with Devell916 and bigdunny1 this morning, fighters like this are not the kind they and others want to see. They prefer to watch big names only.

I think its nice to discover a fighter when they are not a big name and watch them grow and develop and earn bigger exposure.

SOme fans enjoy the journey, some only wake up when they reach their destination.

Never said it was, however it still remains to be seen how they are going to recover their investment and ultimately profit from this type of business model (buying air time and so far producing mediocre ratings for the most part). It does take time of course, so like I said probably need another year or so to accurately judge where they are at. I do applaud him for trying something different though, regardless if PBC "succeeds" or "fails".

Like any sane boxing fan, I'm happy to hear boxing is spreading out further and that companies are now beginning to pump money into it. If that means I must be getting paid to express that, then run with it. Me personally, I don't concern myself with what people do for a living. I can understand why you want to deflect though. You can keep talking about me or return to the subject. Should be an easy choice.

Looks like they aren't buying air time for this.

According to ESPN this is a time buy, just like all the others have been. If they struck a deal with Fox you'll know immediately because headlines will be something like "PBC signs $100 million contract with Fox for 5 years", something along those lines.

Not necessarily. I work for a publicly traded firm and that is not always the case. I'd like to see the actual press release if possible, if it's out. Or maybe they're awaiting their next earnings call to announce.

Anyway, I think his plan is pretty obvious. Six months into it, I'm sure the model has changed (for better or worse, I don't know). The fact that these investors are still looking to branch out speaks volumes about their belief in the end result.

I would imagine he could get PBC on any network he wants with his current model of paying for the shows to air.

Of course they are. Any boxing on network or cable tv will have to be a time buy in the near future. Why would the networks pay for boxing (for mediocre to decent ratings at best) when they can just get paid for it instead. This is one of the reasons for the lawsuits.
