i would find that a bit disappointing. kovalev-gonzalez and ward-pascal is much preferable to me. i don't think pascal had anything for kovalev in their first fight, and i scored pascal-gonzalez for gonzalez

but i guess the combined purses of ward and pascal would be too much for an undercard fight

I'll await a more reputable/non-rumor source before I'll even get into a anti-Ward opposition tirade lol. I definitely think Ward is delusional as too his worth, but I can't believe he believes his value is so high that he can fight bs opponents & people will keep giving him respect.

why do people find this surprising? look at the last 4 years and the guys he tried to fight: truax, sartison, paul smith, zac dunn, periban. then look at the guys he turned down. i wonder why he's barely fighting! he's been like this his entire career. during the super six he received unfair treatment and refused to travel. he's just a diva. a super boring diva.

a small percentage of delusional fans will give him respect no matter what he does. they simply don't care that he's tried to fight bums the last 4 years while turning down every legit fighter. they are a fan of him, not a fan of boxing. they don't even care that he had every super six fight at home, or that he clinched nonstop in some of his fights so they certainly don't care if he fights bums. stay winning!

There is nothing to say that if Ward signs to fight Augustuma that the fight will be on the undercard of Cotto - Canelo. It may be more likely to be rejected by HBO and find it's way over to that reputable number 1 boxing network, BET.

Probably on point with this take. If I'm HBO I'm extremely happy with the mini PPV tournament at 160. Meanwhile Ward gots nothing happening at 168 cept maybe that TR Mexican cat, but he's at least 12 mos probably from winning a belt of his own to have him vs Ward make sense. And Kov gots better options, but nothing to get super excited about (Pascal II or the Cuban who gave Pascal issues). Thus getting Ward vs Kov would be the best possible fight to make while 160 gets figured out over the next 8 or so months from HBO's point of view.

Even that's a joke, it's not like Gonzalez is a young, 20 something up and comer who had a step up with Pascal. He is 30 years old and the combined record of his opponents is simply abysmal. Ward's had, what, 2 or 3 tune ups now? It's a joke.

Ward has had only ONE fight since signing with Roc Nation. Yes, I know that it seems like he has been back in the news for ages now, but he has only been in the ring ONCE in the last two years.

But yes... it IS a joke.

Eh, but yea sure. Everyone gots some of those types of fans. Overall was what I was meaning.

I don't for the life of me see the big deal with the venue for the Super Six fights. I'm not confident in saying any Super Six fight outcome would have changed outside of the Froch vs Dirrell fight if it had been held elsewhere.
