      Whatever that means.

He came back after a very long layoff and fought a few pounds above his normal fighting weight. If you follow boxing you know that's pretty common.

Diego Corrales was off for two years, came back and fought six pounds above the 130lb and several more times at lightweight before weighing a svelte 128lbs. when he challenged Joel Casamayor for the junior lightweight title.

Floyd Mayweather fought seven times the year he won his first title, five times the next year and took seven months before fighting Emmanuel Augustus. He was four pounds above the 130lb. limit. In his next fight, he moved back down and stopped Corrales.

Even Roy Jones, after stopping Montell Griffin, took a somewhat extended absence (for him) and fought two pounds above the light heavyweight limit in his return.

So it's natural that Ward would come back heavier. If he finds it a struggle to make 168 and there is no chance of a fight against Golovkin being made, he'll move up. Obviously he's not asking GGG to come to 172 yet they're pushing for the fight so stop trying to thrust him up another division just because the thought of him fighting GGG makes some of you wet your knickers.
If he is going to be on the Cotto undercard, it's going to be at 175. I've yet to see him fight someone in the 175 pound division so until that actually happens, it's just talk, thus alleged.

Unified light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev's homecoming defense in Russia is going to have to wait. There are bigger plans in the works for the man they call "Krusher."

I would love for him to fight GGG....at 164, where both guys sacrifice equally to make the fight happen. If Ward says that he can't make that happen, it says one thing, he is too big to fight GGG which is precisely why he is interested in making the fight happen.

He thought he was just going to stroll into the HBO offices and tell them how it was going to be like he has done during negotiations throughout his career. He thought he was going to get the PBC treatment of fighting tin cans in his backyard of Oakland for millions of dollars and without having to commit to any real challenges. HBO isn't having that, so they are testing the waters for their backup plan.

You mean GGG isn't having that. I don't think HBO would actively block Ward-GGG. But a 164lb request would. If GGG is willing to fight any fighter not named Andre Ward at 168 that blocks the fight too. And of course, that leaves Ward no choice but to move up. So yes, rejoice. Ward will move up to take on an even greater challenge, something Golovkin is not willing to do.

Did I hit a nerve? Manny was labeled as a PED user, a cheater which leads to press harassment, which is listed as an example of how a person may be entitled to a defamation suit in the public article that I found from a 2 second internet search and not from my self-proclaimed law background.

The bigger point is that Floyd ended up SETTLING OUT OF COURT only when Pacquiao's lawyers requested access to Floyd's full medical history. He paid more money than Pac was even asking for (over $100K more I believe) just to avoid his records being accessed. I'll leave it at that but one could surmise as to his reasons for doing so.

They were granted full access to Mayweather's record.

Andre Ward is the one who has been REPEATEDLY shooting his mouth off about the more popular Golovkin, in order to get attention directed toward himself.

What a smug, arrogant, de****able creep Ward is.

Rejoice in what exactly? GGG is trying to unify his division, if he wins on Sat, that's another title. Then, he has the Cotto-Canelo winner to look forward to, and that's yet another title.

Ward doesn't have anything going on right now at 168 that I'm aware of. If he wants to fight a guy that has big things already lined up in his current division, well, yeah, he needs to bring something to the table, he needs to COMPROMISE. He wasn't willing to do that in the least though, was he?

So to ridicule a guy and intimate that he is "not willing to challenge himself" because he is unifying his current division instead of jumping up in weight for no reason, it doesn't really add up.

If Ward is truly moving up to "challenge himself" and not because he can no longer make 168 in a healthy fashion, then honestly, good for him. When I see that the deal to fight Kovalev is made, then I will give him credit for taking up such a challenge.
