That was obvious, they need to justify their decision to fight another bum at the end of the year, and mark my words: IT WILL NOT BE DECEMBER. Wilder will fight in late January or early February and it will be another unknown bum on PBC and then he leaves Povetkin waiting till at least June of next year.
The ******ed fans are paying to see Wilder because they dont know **** about boxing and Wilder is the only fighter that brings in any money for Haymon so he tries to milk him as much as possible.
Then Haymon will decide what they will do next, they might pull off an injury that delays the fight and frustrates Povetkin even more, they might put out ridiculous demands like Floyd because Wilder is "The HW champion". Will they even vacate the belt if they dont win the purse bid? It will be "interesting".

Read the WBC rules.
There has to be one mandatory defense of each WBC title every year.

Jennings is rubbish.
Jennings put up a tougher fight against Wlad than your hero Sasha did.
Povetkin is the most overrated fighter on NSB by far..

according to Michael Woods at The Ring website, Deontay Wilder is in discussions to fight Bryant Jennings.
Alexander Povetkin deserves his chance at the title and SHOULD be next.
But that being said, Jennings is a good fighter and a much better opponent for Wilder than journeymen like Duhaupas and Molina.
