I said GGG-Degale in the UK is bigger than GGG-Ward in the US. If you tried to put GGG-Degale in Los Angeles it would not do well.

They have to give away tickets and a free pizza for wards fights just to make the arena look decent. What makes you think he's such a star?

It's really not. DeGale does not have a huge fanbase over here yet. He'd only sell out a huge arena if he was fighting Froch. And no one cares about GGG over here.

DeGale-GGG would do well to sell out the 02 Arena.

It's not about Ward being a star. It's about the fight. The fight would sell.

If Golovkin beats Canelo, then people are going to want to see him against a better opponent. Someone who people actually think can give him a fight.

        That would be Ward.

Ward is a bigger fight than any of GGG's last 35 opponents combined.

GGG-Ward likely would not sell out the MGM Grand (cotto-canelo didnt), and if by chance it did it would be solely because of GGG

Roc Nation COO David Itskowitch response after K2 accused them of making an offer when the Lemiuex fight was already signed:

Over the last few weeks, a lot has been said and a lot has been written with respect to a potential fight between WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) and WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs). As the finishing touches were being made to Golovkin's October 17th unification with IBF champion David Lemieux - Ward's promoter, Roc Nation Sports Chief Operating Officer David Itskowitch, emailed an official offer to Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.

            October 9 2015

"The offer was very, very clear.....They would fight eacother some time in the first half of 2016....So obviously the Lemiuex fight would continue to go forward and the Ward fight would be in 2016."

K2, Abel Sanchez are making it out to be as if Roc Nation sent the offer for Golovkin to leave the Lemiuex title fight and instead fight Ward in 2015. Which was from the case, and is a very dishonest thing to do. Abel Sanchez is not lying when he says the offer was made when the Lemiuex fight was signed. What they are being dishonest about is disclosing that the offer would not interfere with the Lemiuex fight, and the Lemiuex fight irrelevant to the offer, and the offer was for 2016. That's very dishonest.

that "someone" would have to be someone known to the casuals, and not just the hardcores, for the fight to elevate GGG to the next level.

problem is, casuals dont have the slightest idea who andre ward is.

And Ward is now a light heavyweight, so OF COURSE its a "bigger" fight. lol

nobody claimed the Ward fight would interfere with the Lemieux fight. Myself, and many others, have RIGHTFULLY claimed all along that it would have interfered with GGG's position as mandatory to the cotto-canelo winner, which if your post is accurate, proves my point 100%. It also would have resulted in GGG being stripped of the IBF title he just won.

so answer this question: what moron would give up their status as mandatory challenger to the cotto-canelo winner, as well as the IBF title they just won, to instead move up 8 pounds and fight ward at a 50-50 split? In what universe would that make any sense?
