Ward fans: what would be the game plan vs kovalev?

The only advantages that Kovalev has over Ward are height and likely power; everything else, Ward is clearly better than Kovalev. You add that Kovalev fights like **** on the inside, and the plan is pretty clear.
Vary the jab and keep it busy, use superior footwork to set up that lead hook (a la Floyd and Diego), and batter the **** out of Kovalev on the inside.Comment

Fact check: It was Ward who was decked by Darnell Boone, not Kovalev.

Yep, if anyone is curious watch Kovalev vs Boone 2, significant improvement on Kov's part. He absolutely dismantled him.
Ward can't fight on the outside against Kov, he doesn't have power to keep Kov off.. and honestly, I have doubts he'll be able to clinch his way throughComment

No, that video he posted was put up on YT by someone claiming it proved that Kovalev had been KO'd as an amateur.
It doesn't prove that at all.
Kovalev was beaten by Atoev, no dispute about that. But was he KO'd? And is that that actually him in the vid?
Maybe, maybe not. Like I said, it doesn't prove anything.Comment

As a Ward fan, I think Kovalev is a really bad style matchup for him and I'd be surprised if he won honestly. I think he handles GGG with ease but Kovalev is another animal.Comment

Likely? You ****in serious? If there's one glaring thing that Kovalev has over Ward it is definitely power. I'm not taking anything away from Ward, he's a fantastic boxer. But don't be ****** and leave any room for comparison about their power. The only advantages that Kovalev has over Ward are height and likely power; everything else, Ward is clearly better than Kovalev. I'm not a Ward fan but I can't resist saying Ward's game plan is to never fight Kovalev. If I am wrong I apologize to Ward but I think time will prove me right. 2 or 3 three years from now Ward fans will still be talking about Ward destroying Kovalev and GGG. Ward will still be fighting mediocre boxers.Comment
