Ward fans: what would be the game plan vs kovalev?

His biggest weakness is his feet, which are relatively slow and not all that graceful. He also kinda gets repetitive/limited in his offensive arsenal.

Ward has to give him angles and turn him around as much as possible. Also he has to make sure he gets off first and not stick around for inside fighting or try to counter Kovalev.

It would be his biggest challenge yet thats for sure.

Actually it's not very smart for him to try to fight Kovalev from a range. Kovalev is able to get his full leverage on his shots from a distance. Ward will be much better inside the chest of Kovalev, constantly getting underneath him to throw shots to his gut. Also keep short burst jabs to the gut and face will offset Kovalev. He needs to keep Kovalev off balance to his left, which I believe with Ward brain power and his gameplan advisor/coach Hunter it will be expected as part of the bigger strategy. Watch the Pascal fight when Kovalev got close he couldn't get off, it was until Pascal will back away or stand from a distance and not throw first.

Kovalev do have JDJ in his corner though and Kovalev seems to improve or fix his mistakes but I believe Ward will outright dominate him come time for them to fight. Ward skill wise is comparable to Mayweather and he loves to fight in the pocket, a defensive wizard in close quarters.

Kovalev recently offered Beterbiev a match up(in Russia, their home) who in fact beaten him twice in the amateur.. that makes him a coward?

Pretty sure Pascal has much much more power than Ward and that clearly didn't faze Kovalev. In fact, Kovalev proved everyone his chin is sturdy.. Ward proved everyone his chin is shaky against Boone

Kovalev got shaken up and dropped by an out of shape Boone and hurt much worse throughout. He went life and death with Boone. Ward thrashed hin aferwards. Also Kovalev went life and death with Pascal and was saved by the ref.
