duhaupas was WBC #11 after beating Charr. Has to be WBC top 15 to be considered for a title shot. Wilder almost fought #14 fujimoto...Comment

Good post & I agree....I've followed Wilder since he went pro and I've been very critical of him; I also recognize and give him credit when credit's due. Last night Wilder gave impressive performance, probably his best.
Wilder's offense is much more versatile and varied. He threw the jab very well, all his punches were cracking, he's throwing (and landing) uppercuts and body shots that he didn't throw before and he showed that he can fight on the inside. Also, Wilder's physicality was on display last night; he leaned on Duhaupas, pushed 'em and man handled him at times - there was a stanza where Wilder was leaning on Johan, on the ropes, and then he busted out with a barrage of uppercuts.
If I'm in Team Wilder, the fight's outcome was the best case scenario that could happen. You had a tough gritty determined and experienced opponent take Wilder into the later rounds, landing some decent shots, damaging his eye and making him have to work for the KO. Perfect fight for Wilder to practice and showcase some stuff he's been working on in the gym and giving fans an exciting fight.
Now let's bring on Povetkin....

to be fair to Duhaupas & Pianeta they were both 17-0 prospects when they fought each other. You don't see American HWs doing that very often. Chazz Witherspoon & Arreola was the last time that happened. 2 guys who were decent prospects at the time. Its funny watching standards dip lower every single time because Wilder keeps failing to live up to expectations.
So much damage control.
Its funny, its like Dahaupas suddenly became this unstoppable tank brigade instead of a guy that got beat by Francesco Pianeta.
Using this logic...
Klitschko>Pianeta>Dahaupas>WilderComment

I think he is a better than i thought he was. Lots of positives from that fight. And to finish so strongly in the 11th round was very impressive.
Wilder vs Wlad would be a the first real exciting HW fight in a very very long time.
Anything could happen in that fight.Comment
