This is nothing but shortsighted biased bull****. So what does he need to do? Beat Willie Monroe and Daniel Geale level opponents to get back on the list? Hell, what does beating Badou Jack at this point prove? Nothing. Arthur Abraham is the #1 SMW right now and Ward already smoked him.

He's been gone since 2011, but nobody at 168 has proven themselves to be a worthy opponent to his throne. Froch wanted no parts of a rematch and chose to retire. If he had stayed active he would have just built a resume of stumblebums while waiting for a worthy contender at 168 to emerge.

What he needs to do is fight at least 3 times per year against top 10 rated SMW contenders. That will get him back on the bottom of the list. I don't care about 'what ifs'. What if Sturm had fought GGG 4 years ago in Germany? What if Martinez had fought GGG instead of Cotto? What if Cotto had fought GGG instead of Geale? I can consider each of those blatant, cowardly ducks to be victories in the GGG column.

The fact of the matter is that Ward DID NOT STAY ACTIVE. And by not staying active, by not continuing to fight the best fighters who were willing to fight him, he does not belong on the list.

By the way... Froch retired to avoid Golovkin, not to avoid Ward. All he needed to do to avoid Ward was to stay in the UK.

Surely this is the most glaring thing about that list.
This is more of a problem. Murray? Geale? Never seen anything so undeserving.

Broner's wins to get on the list were better imo.

p4p lists are a joke in general, im not that surprised

that is completely mind boggling disaster though

Ward should be nowhere near p4p, brook doesnt belong on there.

Klitschkos way too low BUT i predicted when floyd retired wlad would mysteriously plummet in the p4p ranks to make sure he never got to #1. This is boxing, a business, and the whole reason p4p got so popular the past decade is because of US/Brit frustration with heavyweight.

at least they finally put kovalev above GGG

There is no what ifs. He's defeated Froch, Kessler, Abraham and others. You don't want him on the list because you are a GGG fan. That's why going back and forth is pointless.

LOL @ trying to tell Ward what "he needs to do". He doesn't need to do anything because everybody already knows what he's capable of because he's proven it. At this stage it's just an issue of whether the layoff has affected him at all.

Looks like he'd have been no.1 had he fought and beaten a top 5 British SMW then.

One of the worst lists I've seen in a long time.

                  he's american black that's why.

if ward was from wales, he'd be joe calzaghe.

floyd retired, so the american publication has to put an american on it.

                  common sense.

Remember all these dudes were saying Kessler was a bum when Calzaghe beat him? All of a sudden Ward beats him and Kessler means something.
