Not true. You're mixing up causes and corollaries. There were people lobbying for him at Ring when I was still on the panel a few years back. His exposure increased and the Yaegashi fight last year caught a lot of new eyes. The HBO exposure has helped. He's had several quality wins across three divisions. He could lose in a few weeks or keep winning for years. The depth of talent at 112 right now is still sizable and growing at 115. Has a chance to make a special run.

But want to bet that he fights another empty can at a catchweight instead?
Why would he go over to the UK to fight Jack or Abraham?

No one called Kessler a bum before Calzaghe either. It was seen as 50/50. They didn't pack that stadium for a bum (I know...I was there...and it was LIVE).

Gonzalez is not a top 10 P4P fighter. KO artists get these free tickets into the P4P rankings though so I understand.

Only one KO artist, and another high KO fighter belong in the top 3: Sergiy Kovalev and Wladimir Klitschko.

Resume of Hopkins, Pascal, Cleverly, Sillakh, Campillo > Gonzalez entire overrated piece of **** resume.

I disagree. Hopkins is a good win but he was 50. Niida, Takayama, Estrada, Yaegashi, and Sosa, with style points for the way he beat most, is exceptional. If he's the goods, he'll add to it at Fly and Jr. Bantam at a point when the former has been as good the last few years as it has been in decades in terms of depth and style variation. He's more than a KO artist. He's a highly skilled pressure fighter.

What we don't know is what happens when he gets hammered back. Vitoria may be able to answer that. If the whiskers are there with the rest of his game, he could really make a run the next 3-4 years with HBO behind him. Shorter shelf life for smaller fighters (typically) so I'll enjoy while it lasts.

I know. Idk why people come in here to fabricate storylines like others were not around at the time.

Kessler was the 168 darling, Froch was seen as a whiny attention whore, Ward and Dirrell were seen as rookie, untested Americans, Abraham was seen as a KO machine, and Taylor was seen as meh, but still having the best shot out of the Americans.

Taylor was seen as the guy who would need to be replaced soonest, even going in. I was writing about Allan Green waiting in the wings before it started. Ward was the guy most thought wasn't ready for Kessler but with potential for the upset and big upside. He was. Kessler was a damn good fighter and win for each of the guys who beat him.

Hes not lying. Many people tried to downplay Joes win. But as soon as Ward did it, the idea about Kessler changed. It was pretty funny.

This is all you need to know about Ward's SMW resume: Kessler (WBC), Bika (WBC), Abraham (WBO 2x), and Froch (WBA Regular+IBF) all went on to win SMW belts after losing to Ward in the Super 6. All quality wins.

Ward faced twice as many world champs (4) in the 2.5-year Super Six tournament as Golovkin (2) has in his entire 10-year career.
