Would you rank a tennis player in the top 10 if they only played one tournament per year because 4 years ago they won Wimbledon?

If there is one sport boxing should look to for how to rank their competitors, it is tennis. Inactive? You drop in the rankings. Play and lose against a lower ranked player? You drop in the rankings. Anything other than remaining active against top competition and you drop in the rankings.

For some reason, boxing fans are the most forgiving of their favorite athletes. No other sport has fans who are such blind followers. And no other sport has fans that are so delusional. I mean boxing fans make Leaf fans look sensible and reasonable in comparison. What a sport this is.
Ward isn't my fave, and I didn't say I'd rate him that high. I can understand the logic of those who do. He'll be back on at this site as soon as he gets a top ten win again. Where? Have to see it.

You said Rigondeaux has never been tested....but Golovkin has? Rigondeaux's best win is Nonito Donaire. Golovkin's is Martin Murray.

Adonis Stevenson has one win over Chad Dawson who'd just been destroyed by Ward. His opponents in the last 2 years have been predominantly terrible. Sukhotsky, Bika and Karpency....P4P baby!
I expected criticism of my list, & I have issues with Stevenson for not fighting Kovalev, but he is a dangerous fighter with skill. Every one of those fighters is more accomplished than Ward is at this point. To say that Klitschko is not a P4P is ludicrous. I don't base the designation on being televised on a major U.S. network. I'm saying someone @ HBO (and no one else BUT BET) obviously doesn't feel that Ward is high enough on the list to pay him to fight just anybody. GGG is a badass, whether you admit it or not, and many don't dare fight him.

          3. Kovalev

          4. Golovkin

          5. Rigondeaux

          6. Klitschko

          8. Pacquiao

          9. Yamanaka

          10. Brook

At best Ward is anywhere from 10-20, considering he hasn't beaten any top10 in 4 fcuking years and even b4 his only legit wins are Froch and Kessler(debatable) only.

            Intriguing list indeed, though:

Klitschko dropped from #3 for? I don't know, signing to fight Tyson Fury?

Brook entered the list for beating Shawn Porter over a year ago.
Brook being in top10 is a bigger joke than Ward being #2.

How so? Apart from Mayweather and Pacquaio, none of those guys have a better resume than Ward. So what do you mean by "accomplished" exactly?

KOing a bunch of no hopers?

I have Wladimir Klitschko on the list but it just doesn't follow your logic. People at HBO must not have thought him to be high on the list when they weren't showing his fights all those years? Or does it only count when they don't show 1 Ward fight?

Stacking quality wins, you can make a case for Roman with Ward. Depends what you like. Both high quality.

Roman Gonzalez became #2 by beating Rocky Fuentes and Valentin Leon. With 1 good win in 2012 and another decent in 2014. That's it, otherwise he became #2 by solely being KO artist over journeymen.

If Ward went over to the UK, he may well get fights with DeGale or Jack or even Abraham if he wanted. Might even fill a venue without having to give away half the tickets. Of course, Ward is chained to Oakland. He could probably get a fight with Beterbiev if he wants to stay in the US and try his luck at LHW.

But want to bet that he fights another empty can at a catchweight instead?
