I can admit to being a GGG fan. But I'll be the first to say he really needs to start stepping up his competition. I wasn't a believer in him to much a few years ago. But I just love his style, so now I expect the best out of him. Guys I follow I only want them fighting the best and I want GGG to fight only the best. I know there has been guys that's been avoiding him, quillen and Martinez(when he was champion) amoung other. But there are guys he can fight that would be step up and if he can't get guys in his division to step up to fight him then he needs to be a man and go after the bigger fish in other divisions.

Do you honestly think for a moment they are scared of Lara? Everyone on here who knows anything about boxing, when push comes to shove, would pick Golovkin by KO. Even you did. It's ridiculous to even mention his name at this point as to someone Golvokin has avoided, for reasons that should be obvious. The only person that comes close would be Andre Ward, a guy a weight class above and a guy they've had no incentive to move up in weight to actually fight until maybe just now since the guy hasn't been in boxing for 2 years. Golovkin has not had a single fight at 168. They've talked about fighting single fights there against Chavez jr and Froch, two very big money fights for them, but that's as far as it went was talk. Quite obviously with Lemieux (unification) and the Canelo/Cotto being promised by the WBC immediately following, they aren't going to throw all that away to fight a BET fighter right now. Next year or so? Absolutely!

But everything New England said was true and you just acted like it was baloney. The big names have avoided him. That's a fact. Even a lot of the contenders and other title holders avoided him. From Felix Sturm, whom Golovkin was mandatory to for over two years, to N'dam who rejected two purse bids and lost his rankings as result, to Anthony Mundine years ago when Golovkin was fighting out of Germany, to Peter Quillin before the network/Haymon feud, to the big names like Chavez & Froch, Cotto & Canelo and Martinez. Even a fight with Dmitry Pirog which was scheduled on HBO fell apart when Pirog injured himself in training and had to pull out. Given the facts we know here, not speculation or opinion, but actual facts, it's more than obvious Golovkin has had the unfortunate circumstance of being viewed as too much of a risk for all of these guys to fight. His lack of "names" on his resume is a result of 160 not having any balls and unwillingness to fight. Complaining about it is like singing to the choir being that Golovkin and his fans have been complaining about these guys not stepping up to the plate. The problem here is you're complaining about it in the wrong way, placing the blame on Golvokin as if it's HIS fault Quillin/Martinez/Sturm/Cotto/et all haven't fought him yet and your only solution is to move out of his own division? The blame here should be put on the guys in his OWN division for not fighting him (and also to any sanctioning bodies that allow it).

LOL! You guys really like to assume don't you? I'd like you to go read everything I've said in this thread... now please quote me as saying GGG ducked Lara. I said GGG ducked Ward(164lbs) though. I don't think GGG is scared of Lara, however I think GGG's team see a Lara fight as too much risk vs reward. A fight with Lara isn't viable due to the promotional issues anyway though. Instead of stating the promotional issues they came up with other BS excuses. GGG's team when called on their bullshit(anyone from 154-168lbs doe), came up with the old risk vs reward adage... the same thing that the "big names" did to GGG. How is it not ok for the "big names" to do that to GGG but ok for GGG to do that to Lara? The "big names" didn't flat out avoid GGG... they gave him the same treatment that him and his team are giving Lara. Ward gets the BS 164 catch weight since he doesn't sell apparently... so I think it'd be funny if Canelo/Cotto winner put 155lb. catch weight or no fight for GGG.

Paul Williams couldn't get fights so he moved up to where he got a better opportunity... but I guess everyone should just cater to GGG doe.

People were once very critical of Canelo and rightfully so. Canelo then went on to beat Trout who at the time people overrated, doesn't matter what we think now, that doesn't change what the consensus was, in fact many even thought Trout could take Mayweather but that's another story. Canelo then went on to face Mayweather, Lara and now Cotto. You don't see people hating on Canelo anymore or at least nowhere near the same extent as Golovkin and I repeat, there was once overwhelming hate.

It's really the competition man. As for Broner, the hype was unwarranted and he never belonged on no P4P list, thing is we knew he wouldn't last against a good boxer. That said, I still expected him to easily get through Maidana though

As another example, I and a lot of people were critical of Kovalev. His comp was a bunch of no hopers.

Then he rag dolled BHop and blasted Pascal....Now I am a full fledged believer in Kovalev's skills.

Matter of fact there is no way GGG should be rated ahead of Kov.

If GGG steps up his comp and wins, he will get the same respect

I agree GGG is up there in age and doesn't really have a signature win yet. Hopefully it comes soon. I wonder how old B.Hop was when he got his first signature win. Against Trinidad no? Same thing with Martinez? There's been some top fighters that got their signature win in their 30's. Anyway hopefully GGG can fight the winner of Canelo/Cotto and it can answer some questions. Would like to see him to try to become Undisputed Champ before moving up.

Hopkins hadn't put his body through 350 amateur fights, but yeah, the Trinidad fight when he was 31 (followed by the Oscar fight at 34) was probably that breakout moment.

Golovkin is 33 years old, Ward is there, ready to give him that signature opportunity, and yet he still ducks the opportunity (With an Olympic gold medal around his neck, Ward had already picked up two defining moments by the age of 28).

I doubt that Golovkin fights Cotto/Alvarez (both guys have openly talked about being far more comfortable at junior middleweight, and I don't honestly see Cotto fighting beyond this final series of fights with Alvarez).

Hopefully Team Golovkin wises up before their guy gets to the age of 35

GGG was just asking Floyd to defend the 154 lb titles he's been babysitting for years. Not at a CW, at 154. Not 2 weight classes, zero weight classes.

GGG is an exciting, talented fighter with a mediocre resume, but a wicked 20 fight KO streak. There are a lot of reasons behind the less than stellar resume. He turned pro pretty late. He was ducked by Sturm for years. Then by Martinez, Cotto, Quillin, Chavez Jr and Froch, among others.

If he's able to add Cotto/Canelo winner, Lee, maybe Jacobs, Lara and then moves up and fights Ward, he'll end up okay.

But yeah, if GGG is offering to fight Floyd at 154, chances are he's a bit small at 168.

Floyd has fought at junior middleweight three times in his life; against De La Hoya, where he was chasing the fight for simply the opportunity, against Cotto, which he fought at 154 to prove a point, and Alvarez, who talked his way into a 152 catchweight.

Golovkin brings no real money to the table, Golovkin has no standing at junior middleweight, and Golovkin has yet to fight anyone to actually prove his rep.

Team Golovkin is in no position to demand anything about the weight, in even the talk of a hypothetical fight; Floyd would say "150lbs or kick rocks".
