The OP said Floyd is the number one at 147 but not the number p4p in his opinion. Does the OP know that 147 is currently considered the most competitive weight class right now? You have Thurman, Porter, Maidana, Pacquiao, Khan, Garcia, Bradley, Brook and Mayweather. To be ranked number one at the most competitive weight class is quite the statement.

Yes Floyd is still p4p number one. He beat the number two fighter in the world just a few months ago, has two belts at light middle weight, a win over the current middle weight champion, and multiple wins against future hall of famers, all while remaining undefeated in nearly 50 fights and five separate weight classes.

im not saying hes **** (by the way, i consider cotto/ghost a little too long ago)

to both, i am not discrediting floyd lol. i am simply asking...... i dunno why ppl get so offended haha.
and i think cotto fight is a little too far in the past to consider for ranking #1 p4p today.

If we're using the hypothetical idea of p4p, then, no. I don't think he's the best fighter anymore. Resume, accomplishments, skill, then sure he's number 1. But if everyone was the same size, I wouldn't favour him over a guy like kovalev.

Floyd is definitely #1 right now. The only guy who has any say is Ward and he hasnt done anything in so long which means he has no say. All the other guys you named are just talent as of right now. Its all a guessing game. They have done nothing to prove they are #1 P4P. Until they beat a serious top guy then they cannot be rated ahead of Floyd. Even if they do, it doesnt make them #1 considering Floyd's own talent, skill level, and resume but as of now its not even a debate

I cant see Korvalev beating Floyd from what Ive seen. Floyd is even harder to beat as a P4P fighter due to the fact that even his normal fights are at a weight disadvantage 90% of the time so if you tell me he's going into a fight where guys are basically the same size or close then I dont see him losing to Korvalev. When has Korvalev been at a size disadvantage like Floyd faces or faced a guy who can box anything on Floyd's level? I have to see him do something like that before I pick him over Floyd

I'm speaking of them in their current state. Floyd is still great but he's not as good as he once was, and kovalev is clearly at his pinnacle. I don't give much credence to p4p because it's an abstract idea and unprovable. But for entertainment purposes, I think if they fought at their current states, and the same size, I'd favour kovalev. Despite his age, Hopkins is a master technician and kovalev humiliated him. Couple that with his destruction of everyone else he's faced and I think, in that hypothetical world, he's the best.

On a different note, I have no idea how a guy like golovkin is rated higher than kovalev when he hasn't proven himself at world level like kovalev has.
