Mexico has simply produced the better fighters, it's a fact. You don't have to like it or agree with me, that's the beauty of truth, it remains regardless of opinions.

His first 43 wins were against cab drivers. Actual cab drivers. In one instance I remember reading he actually got DQ'd in a fight but the decision got changed to a Knockout victory, lol, I might be wrong on that though.
Even if I accepted the premise that his first 43 wins were against "actual cab drivers"--it would still mean he had a run of another 44 straight wins. Again, we can't say he's overrated because his competition wasn't competition. So you "might be wrong about that"

Finito is nowhere near the list. He never once fought a true great or near great fighter and all he had to do was eat one pancake and fight Carbahal and refused to put himself in the mix. No credit for fighting 10-1 thai kick boxers.

Everyone has their own criteria, this again is objective not factual. I'm going by skill set, some people actually think of them fighting each other. Others think it's a popularity contest. Overall skill/athletic ability/boxing IQ... I'm going with Cotto.
I disagree entirely I think Carlos Ortiz is more well rounded than Cotto.

Ortiz is better in most areas than Cotto other than perhaps power and body punching.

He fought who was available. He definitely belongs in the discusion. Easily one of the most skilled and fluid fighters pound for pound.

There were better fights for him if he moved up.

He stayed in a weak division instead.

I agree with the other guy I don't see him being in the discussion.

Of course we can, in fact lol....how else do we even decide who ATGs are? Anyone can look superb vs sub par competition. The majority of his other 44 straight wins were against journeymen and fringe contenders.

To be an ATG you have to actually prove and test yourself, you need career defining wins against other ATGs, think Ali vs Foreman/Frazier/Norton/Liston. Duran vs De Jesus, Buchanan, Leonard, Hagler. etc etc Chavez's was who...Camacho? lol

Chavez lost his biggest fights and got gifts against fighters he shouldn't have needed gifts against. He's a vastly overrated boxer. That's not to say he wasn't a good boxer, he was but he has no place in any legitimate top ATG list.

Mexico has produced more fighters, not necessarily better. That's also to be expected when PR is an island like 40 miles wide lol.
