K2's supposed to make statements like that in order to setup negotiations, it's kinda the SOP of a boxing promoter.

You guys are so anxious to discredit Golovkin. He signed to fight Pirog, he signed to fight Chavez at 168, offered to fight Froch at 168 in the UK, he pushed the WBA to fight Sturm, pushed the WBA to fight N'Dam, offered to goto Argentina to fight Martinez instead of Murray, offered to fight Quillin, offered to fight Kessler, and offered to fight Edwin Rodriguez & Thomas Oosthuizen over Rosado. All that and yet he's a protected b*tch.

I suppose in your book Hopkins is a b*tch because he called out Michalzewski and Ottke shortly after he beat Tito, but backed out b/c they didn't offer enough money and wouldn't travel to the US. Hopkins had a 2-fight offer with Showtime to fight Harry Simon then Joe Calzaghe but backed out of that as well b/c he didn't like the money Don King was taking. Is Hopkins a b*tch because he worked on a risk/reward ratio?
The bold is either a guess, or an assumption..... and is likely untrue.

In my book..... catchweights are completely unnecessary.

There are only two reasons to demand a catchweight.....

    1) you are not good enough to compete with your opponent because of size disparity

    2) you are attempting to drain your opponent to gain an unfair advantage

    Neither are acceptable.

Catchweights are completely unnecessary..... and if it really was necessary, then the fight in question is an exhibition match and should not be taken seriously.

Plenty of fighters have taken that step up without a catchweight..... so why should your favorite pu55y get a pass?

In my personal life, when something.....

    1) is completely unnecessary
    2) cannot be justified
    3) creates more questions than answers

..... then I remove that rubbish from my life.

Golovkin should give Cotto a catchweight because.....
    1) Cotto is obviously a JMW, he weighs 153lb
    2) Golovkin demanded a catchweight from Ward
    2) Cotto is the A-side, which is the excuse GGG made for the Ward cw

I don't know whats worse....trying to justify Jr. and Froch at 168 while asking Ward for 164 or using Krusher as a human shield....I swear, they better HOPE Krusher knocks Ward off or out because if Ward beats Krusher there will be no more feathers on the duck....it will be time to take a heavy dose of "Man The **** Up"

When BHop-Kovalev was announced, I thought, crap, Bernard is going stink it up all night with that lead-right-cross-clinch. But Kovalev, whose boxing skills and ring savvy were underrated, took any inside game away from Bernard, completely shut him out; and consequently Bernard had to take a lot of punishment to hear the final bell standing up.

I think Ward now knows he won't be able to hold Kovalev on the inside because the Russian 1) is the bigger man who's too strong for that tactic, and 2) he has the skills to keep Ward at the end of his long-range weapons.

This creates a level of risk that makes it easier for Ward to target the smaller Golovkin. Fighting GGG would probably net him a bigger payday also.
Golovkin is busy right now... I guess he would be ready to take Ward sometime in the second half of next year, in case ward is still boxing. At a proper location with a proper referee...
... But I don't know for sure if Ward will really want to fight GGG or Kovalev... The fact that Ward stated that he would fight Kovalev only after he fights Golovkin makes me think he actually doesn't want to...

I think Ward is reasonable to want to fight GGG first. He has stated that once he commits to the LHW division, he's not returning to SMW.

Assuming Ward-Golovkin materializes, if I was Tom Loefler I'd be sure to:

          1) procure a referee who would penalize/disqualify a fighter for constantly holding. Ward isn't the elusive type like Erislandy Lara but more akin to Camacho Sr. who repeatedly clinched and held when an opponent got too close. Maybe Steve Smoger?

          2) stage the fight anywhere except Oakland.

Rather hilarious how Ward went from "I can beat a Klitschko to "nah I'd rather fight this bum-feasting MW than fight DeGale, Stevenson or Kovalev." #2 p4p doe.

Golovkin went from..... " anyone from 154-168 ".....

To, " specific fighters 160-168 only, and only at a weight that suits me ".

They say Mayweather is the only guy that they will consider at 154.

Well, that fight wont happen, so forget about 154.

And, they absolutely know that Ward cannot make 164.

So it looks like " anyone from 154-168 ", really means.....

                    " anyone from 160-168, except movers/spoilers like Lara/Mora/Ward/etc ".

Actually, Golovkin now looks just like every other fighter.

Nothing special there, until proven otherwise.
