That's not how A-side works, it's about leverage.
      • Golovkin is currently popular and has a potential mega fight with Alvarez down the road.
      • Ward is currently unpopluar, has a style of fighting that fails to attract fans, and has no good opponents to fight at 168.
      • Ward needs Golovkin to move up to face him, but Golovkin doesn't have to. Ward either needs to become a relevant draw and bring more money to the table or he needs to make concessions like 4lbs.

Ward fans are quick to forget, when Bernard Hopkins wanted to fight Dela Hoya and Trinidad, he met them half way. Typically he came in at 160-158.5. For Oscar he came down to 156lbs and for Tito he weighed 157lbs. Bernard understood he was the B-side, but he did what he needed to make the fights happen.

I am not "calling for GGG" to go up just because, I am suggesting he do it to find the quality opposition he and his fans claim always duck him. Additionally, he was willing to go up to fight chavez and froch, which suggests staying at 160 and winning all the belts is not something he is married to.

You said it, Ward hadn't fought for years and when he came back it was at LHW. Nobody knows if he can still make 168 or not.

If Cotto beats Canelo, then sure, GGG will want to fight him at 160, because it would be for the WBC and lineal 160lb titles.

A 10 yo child could understand that, but to you it makes no sense?

Before I defend Ward I want to make sure that he's not fighting Marco Antonio Periban next. SMH

Golvokin was the B-side in fights vs Froch & Chavez. He agreed to concede his opponents the size advantage in order to fight the more popular fighters. It's really not complicated.

If Ward brought a quarter of the popularity that Mayweather has, the fight would be on at 168lbs.

Team GGG should just stop mentioning Ward. They're just giving him publicity. If they have no intentions of fighting him, don't answer questions about him. They're just making themselves look bad.

name calling not helping your argument... when has Cotto fought anyone at the full 160 pound limit? When has Ward besides this fight due to inactivity not fought at 168? I ll be waiting

Well that's on Ward as well.. dude goes 2 years without fighting and its like seriously? He has dum some questionable stuff as well.. definitely not totally defending Ward here.. dude always wants to fight in Oakland like hes such a big draw.

I think it has more to do with the talent/skill of the opponent, like Floyd fighting cotto @154 and Canelo @ 152.
