I would not sit here and critise GGG v Lem. That is a valid fight because it is for a unification

Jesus the Floyd fans are exposing themselves hard at the moment. Golovkin vs Lemieux is a good matchup, not ppv worthy, but one of the best available matchups at 160. How you can compare Floyd vs Berto to Golovkin vs Lemieux is beyond me.

It is one of the best match ups at 160 but considering 160 is pure crap right now thats not really saying much. But it will be exciting for as long as it lasts.

Mayweather would be favored to be Matt by decision, granted he has injured hands. Even if Mayweather was a puncher like Provodnikov, he still wouldn't be favored to beat Matthysse by KO. No one ever will, not at 140-147.
I agree with most of this, but worth mentioning that it seems that someone with a huge KO streak and >90% KO ratio would be a favorite to win by KO in any fight they are a favorite. Aka there aren't any fighters that 3G would be a favorite to win a decision against.

              Let's compare a bit.

Lemieux is the IBF champ and arguably the number 3 guy in the division behind only GGG and Cotto. He is at the very least on par with with guys like Quillin, Lee and Jacobs, who round out the list of top 6 or so guys at middle. He is a big KO puncher with both hands and has good speed, defense, and overall skill. Whether you think he is overmatched or not, it will be a war for as long as it lasts, and he is a legit top guy in the division.

Berto is ranked somewhere around 20th at welterweight. By all accounts, he is past his best (and he wasn't even that good at his best). He has been inactive and looked bad against subpar opponents over the last 3 years. He does not have any attributes that stand out. He is not a puncher, he is short, he is chinny, he is not particularly fast, and his skill set is nothing special. He poses no threat to anyone in the top 10, let alone the number one guy, and there is no reason in the world to fight him.

RUBIO?
Do you think Mayweather and Golovkin had the exact same opportunities? Do you think Golovkin purposely chose not to fight elite fighters?

Or will you acknowledge fighters like Felix Sturm when he was on top turned down Golovkin despite GGG being mandatory for two years, Sergio Martinez, Pirog, N'Damn, Quillin, Canelo, Cotto, Chavez jr, Froch, all for whatever reasons decided not to fight Golovikin? Obviously Golovkin has the resume he has due to guys not stepping in the ring with him.

Now you can see GGG in no way shape or form had the same opportunities as Pretty Boy Floyd. Furthermore, Golovkin has only started getting his name known in the boxing world when he left Germany and came to America to fight on HBO in 2012 and if not for the opponents backing out, he already would have fought Sergio, Cotto, Canelo, etc.

Understanding all that, it's pretty easy to see why at this point in time, considering all that has happened (or hasn't happened), Lemieux being a title holder is a solid opponent in his quest to unify 160.

if the ward fight was there he shoulda took it and kept the cries about a catch weight to himself. roy jones fought hopkins, toney, tarver, and others. if you want to be "great" in boxing u have to fight the undefeated corrales's, the wards, the hearns. his hearns was there (ward) and at 33 years of age he refused to take it.
Roy Jones fought Hopkins when they were both green and Hopkins was a nobody but more importantly here they fought each other when they were in the same weight class. Same goes for Toney & Tarver (as Roy settled into 168 & 175 respectively). Golovkin has not moved up yet, and when he does, the Ward fight will happen. Golovkin is in position to fight Lemieux to unify and then fight the Canelo/Cotto winner being that he's mandatory and the WBC said winner must fight Golovkin. He rightfully so should take that before anything else. Ward just now came back to boxing after a two year hiatus so it's good for him too if the fight happens next year versus right this second.

                  Where does this come from?

Pacquiao was KO'd 2 times TKO'd once, yet nobody says he cannot take a punch. Lemieux gets stopped in the 7th round 4 years ago against a guy with over 50 kos, and has been given a glass chin title.

Golovkin is favorite no doubt, but this is a dangerous fight against a huge puncher. I can't characterise it as anything other than that.

GGG Is a 12-1 favorite over Lemule due to how good he is.

Matweather is a 80-1 favorite over Berto because of how bad Berto is.

Lemiuex is top 5 while Berto isn't.

Lemieux would be favored against most at middleweight except GGG, can't say the same for Berto.

No legit fight can have someone favored that much.

Plus I'll rather pay for the future PPV king in a all action fight than pay for another fight from the biggest disappointment in boxing.
