They're going to exchange and someone is going to get caught with a bad one, no reason it won't be Golovkin.

It's not Murray or Monroe he's exchanging with, it's a guy with an 86% KO ratio who while a less accomplished boxer may well hit as hard if not harder than him and GGG gets hit in fights.

Yeah, it's not quite the same. The Ortiz or Guerrero fight would've made more sense.

Lol @ anyone who thinks this is even remotely comparable.

One fight involves the #1 p4p fighter versus a fighter that is maaaybe top 20 in his division coming off of an unimpressive performance against an unimpressive fighter.

The other fight involves a top 10 p4p fighter in a unification bout against a top 5ish fighter in his division coming off an impressive performance against a decent fighter.

You can't even compare the odds because they are substantially worse for Mayweather/Berto. I'm not gonna pretend the odds aren't wide for 3G/Lemieux, but boy please. Several online betting sites have Mayweather 100-1 favorite and no sites have 3G more than 16-1 favorite.

There is literally no metric where 3G/Lemieux isn't a much better fight than Mayweather/Berto.

Have fun with your $75 ATG mismatch.

          They're both mismatches.

One guy is the established #1 ranked MW, with 6 wins over top 10 MW's. The other one is not established at all, with 1 total win over a top 10 MW. Nobody believes this fight is dangerous for GGG, given by the poll we had a week ago, it's unanimous that this is a mismatch.

Mayweather-Berto is such a garbage fight though and makes GGG-Lem look like a much better fight in comparison.

GGG never claimed he was TBE, nor is he regarded widely as the p4p #1.

If you claim you're TBE and you're p4p #1, you shouldn't be fighting C-level Berto.

I'm not complaining about any of them but I would like to see Golovkin take a bigger challenge because so far based on his resume his hype is undeserved.

Mayweather vs Berto... I don't like it, not at all, but I can accept that Myweather wants an easy, showcase retiring fight after such a long career with many fights against elite competition. He proved himself enough times to give him a pass for this one... His last 4-5 opponents were all better than anybody Golovkin beat so far and that's just his last 4-5 opponents. So... Mayweater proved himself already enough times in my eyes, Golovkin did not so far. That's the difference.

I'm applauding GGG vs Lemieux and I couldn't give a flying **** about Floyd vs Berto, so that's your theory blown.

But it's obvious that GGG vs Lemieux is more interesting given that Lemieux is better or at least in better form than Berto + he has a puncher chance and Golovkin is not as good as Floyd. So while Golovkin will still be a big favourite of the fight it could be more competitive than Mayweather vs Berto.

It's dangerous for anyone, imo mismatch is really the wrong term for this bout.

Imo it's the equivalent of Mayweather fighting Matthysse. One clear favorite but the other guy is clearly dangerous. Yes Matthysse has a better record than Lemieux, but he would be stepping up in weight and has his losses too.

On Mayweather-Berto, well many champions have taken a soft bout. Real issue across the pond is he's charging $75 for it.
