As a proud Golovtard, i'm not overly ecstatic about this fight but it's one of the best fights to be made in the division, and it's a unification fight.

Same people complaining about Mayweather vs Berto are applauding Golovkin vs Lemieux

There's a big difference. The Monroe fight wasn't based on cherry picking. He asked Cotto, Canelo, Froch, Chavez Jr, Quillen and a few more for a fight. Floyd admitted to cherry picking Berto because he wanted an easy fight.
Lemieux is a champion at 160 while there are at least 6 realistic fighters more deserving of a Floyd Mayweather fight. He could have picked Garcia, Porter, Khan, Brook, Thurman, Algieri (yes, Algieri is more deserving than Berto at this point), Broner, Lara, etc. Even if GGG-Lemieux is a mismatch (which it isn't), he's the best fighter available. Berto is not even on the depth chart.
He ducked Amir Khan for ****s sake.... There's really so saving face for Floyd in this fight.

Imo it's the equivalent of Mayweather fighting Matthysse. One clear favorite but the other guy is clearly dangerous. Yes Matthysse has a better record than Lemieux, but he would be stepping up in weight and has his losses too.
On Mayweather-Berto, well many champions have taken a soft bout. Real issue across the pond is he's charging $75 for it.
And add the fact that in the age of internet PPV fights will become a bigger and bigger jokes.
I'm actually surprised that the PPV model is still alive with the amount of internet streaming portals.
I'm not American but if I would be then probably I wouldn't pay a cent for PPVs but watch it online for free.
Why would I pay extra money for a network I pay for anyway? gtfoh with that ****...
And don't tell me that with this I hurt the sport. They get their money too if the fight are free.Last edited by HEND; 08-05-2015, 03:36 PM.

if the ward fight was there he shoulda took it and kept the cries about a catch weight to himself. roy jones fought hopkins, toney, tarver, and others. if you want to be "great" in boxing u have to fight the undefeated corrales's, the wards, the hearns.
his hearns was there (ward) and at 33 years of age he refused to take it.

They are both crap fights and mismatches.
But at least floyd has actually fought "A" fighters and just came off a win versus the 2nd best guy of his era. While ggg has only fought "c" fighters. David might be a B- fighter.
While I wont be paying for either i dont really have a problem with either. I know the ggg fight will be exciting while it lasts and believe it or not you may actually get a somewhat exciting floyd fight. When is the last time berto has been in a boring fight. If floyd picked a better opponent then you would definitely get a boring fight.
