Come February these facts will be forgotten and it'll be "Kovalev ducked Artur". They know Kovalev cannot fight off HBO and they are going to maneuver to make him have to vacate a belt or void his contract...and watch idiots eat this shhh right up. Good luck getting the belt/belts back on premium cable after they've landed on PBC laps.

Same as I kept saying kov asked for the purse bid instead of asked to be the mando. Arguing to fast. I will wear this right now but Mohammedi was the madno for 2+years and kept getting passed over. Kov also only made the fight after pulling out of the bid.

You keep saying that Kovalev and Stevenson would make more for fighting with Haymon on ST than HBO, but you don't know if that's true or not.

Adonis would have got 50% of the purse bid if it had gone ahead, but I'm pretty sure Duva and Kovalev would have given him a better cut than 50% of the HBO money to get him to agree to the fight, if he'd been willing to negotiate.

Whatever he would have got from HBO and Duva, I'm damned sure it would have been substantially more than he ended getting for fighting Dmitry Sukhotsky on PBC instead.

Stop with this lie about the purse bid sham from Haymon that Kovalev was a free agent. He wasn't he was right smack in the middle of signing a extension and HBO had last fight rights. He was an HBO fighter and Haymon knew this and wanted to force the purse bid for a fight that wasn't going to happen unless it was on HBO. This idea that Kovalev was going to fight on PBC and damage his relationships with HBO and flush his multi fight deal down the drain is idiotic. And that's assuming that HBO doesn't block the fight from happening in the first place. When the new contract was officially released is semantics because it was widely reported the new deal was coming and they were just finishing the final details to rip that up just because Haymon says so is foolish. Especially when according to everyone all these PBC guys are network free agents then he should have no problem fighting on HBO.

Duva's entire case to the WBC, and the reason why the WBC took the unprecedented step of making Kovalev their mandatory challenger, was that Kovalev was on the verge of being able to enter into open negotiations with Stevenson, with neither fighter having direct obligations elsewhere.

The WBC is as political an organization as anything else in boxing; if they were under the impression that Kovalev was still with HBO, they wouldn't have made him mandatory to begin with.

PBC is going to outbid HBO by a significant amount. Forcing the purse bid allows Michel to get his fighter the biggest purse possible. That is him doing his f-cking job!!!

Kov doesn't have to vacate-he can defend. He resigned to HBO AFTER he pulled out of the Stevenson purse bid. He f-cked himself!

Bieterbiev's promoter has more resources. why should he negotiate in a way that lowers his client's purse? even you can see that makes no sense.

Stevenson didn't duck. He wanted his value. HBO wouldn't pay him that. He went to Showtime making the same money vs lesser opponents than he woulda made fighting Kovalev on HBO. Fault = HBO

Kovalev didn't duck. He wanted to support his promoter & network. Duva supported Kovalev's desire to fight Stevenson by trying to force the fight via the alphabet group. HBO didn't support Duva or Kovalev & there goal of fighting Stevenson. Fault = HBO

Beterbiev. This situation is still developing, but this rings of a power brokers of boxing politics situation. Haymon & GYM know Kovalev doesn't have HBO's full support to follow through on a purse bid that could arise. And they know Duva/Kovalev seem ready to drop a title than fight off of HBO. So basically this is a path of least resistance for getting Beterbiev a title.

Basically I think the fighters played minimal parts in these fights not happening. I think people downplay the power of HBO specifically, but to a lesser degree promoters & now advisors/managers with Haymon in preventing fights & overestimate fighters "being scared".

It has been mentioned already but he was about to bid £15m (or was it $15m?) for Fury-Klitschko to bring the fight to Russia. K2 got shook and called the purse bid off and made a deal.
