They have an idea of each guys style, their background, they've picked the guy they associate the most with etc... I'd say the matchups on PBC so far have been good... Not great ... But the potential is definitely there and whenever he decides to turn up the heat I can't see HBO being able to keep up... They simply don't have enough fire power.
Good point. This is why I'm waiting to criticize/praise PBC's ratings until they have two well established PBC fighters fight each other. Guys who have had 2-3 wins on network TV and a bit of momentum behind them.

Most likely will come from Porter/Thurman/Garcia/Khan/Spence group i think (spence maybe a little off for now)

Establish a go to network to watch boxing on a set time and date is how you grow your fanbase.
Boxing is not seasonal, like other sports and network television. So that's hard to accommodate. No Football from Feb to Aug. No NBA from June to Oct (same for NFL give or take a week or two. No MLB from Oct to Mar.

Television shows usually start around Sep and end sometime in May. You can have a boxing match during the NBA playoffs, Super Bowl weekend, the Pennet. During anytime of the year.

Too many networks on too many different days at too many different times of day. I had no clue there was a PBC fight on sunday night until I saw the results later online here. Die hard fans can barely keep up and you expect causal fans to know a show one week on sunday at noon and then a month later a show on sunday night. The ratings have been weak and on the decline for PBC because casual fans don't care about it and damn sure are not going to flip between 8 different channels at all different times of day for these fights.

Yeah, how dare Al Haymon make boxing available throughout the week. Doesn't he know that fans of the sport don't want the option of watching the sport during the week.

I am shaking my head at some of the comments. There's a reason why boxing is not as popular as leading sports and one of the reasons is that, outside of the big fights, the sport is pretty much dead. I don't know how American sports operate, but in the UK you have numerous tiers of football: people can watch football matches when they want and people don't ***** and moan about the level of competition. The memorable matches are great, but it is not a grave offence to simply have the option of watching a match.

do you watch other sports? what do you do when the channel isn't the same?

Example, in the NYC area the Yanks play games on WPIX, MLB network, YES, Fox, ESPN. You think these fans have a hard time finding the game if its on a different channel 3 days in a row?

Can you tell me the lottery numbers for next week???

Not the same and you know it. Yankees are a established team and brand for a sport that is used to coming on everyday. PBC is trying to build a brand and diluting the product by putting it on channels like Bounce TV and putting it on times you don't associate with boxing. Sunday at Noon? PBC would of been better off starting off with fewer channels at consistent day and times and loading up those cards. Instead we got massive mismatches spread across like 8 different channels and subchannels at all kinds of days and times that to the common sports fan is too difficult to keep up with. Fights that should be undercards are now doomed to fail as a headline act.

Man IDK... it literally takes a few seconds to google something...

or he can go to the RBR threads I make... I put the time & channel on them to make it easier...

or the time he takes to post on the other regular threads... he can look up what fights he wants to see.

My coworker is a boxing fan. Not diehard but will tune in when he hears of a good matchup. I just asked him if he's going to tune into the next PBC fight. His response..."Who/what is PBC". I told him its a new boxing promotion headed by Al Haymon. His response..."Who's Al Haymon". I told him that he's the head of PBC and is the one who put on last Saturdays card. He asked "well what channel are these PBC fights on". I told him he can catch them on either "espn, nbc, cbs, spike, BounceTV, foxsports1" He gave me an utter look of confusion.

Point I'm trying to make is, us fans who follow the sport and frequent sites such as this can easily follow what fights are on. For someone like my co-worker who isnt as diehard as us here, it'll be hard for him to follow with such a broad array of channels, times, dates. This goes for any show. Take the most popular show on tv right now and keep switching what channel its on in addition to which day of the week they show it and at what time. Guarantee you viewership will fall like a rock!

Tuesday night fights is a move in the right direction. Now he needs to implement the same strategy for a network like ESPN.
He probably looked confused because you most likely don't know how to explain simple things...

                      Easy explanation here:
PBC is on different networks. Sometimes Friday & Saturday depending on the fights. If you're interested here's the website and check them out... it'll only take a minute or two.

See how easy I explained it.
