Thank you Al Haymon for bringing boxing to all masses. While it's true It took me a while to figure out where to find the Garcia/Malinacci fight being that it is on so many different channels, but i still will not complain about it shooot! It's great having all these fights I'm am enjoying them. This is how the great Salvadore Sanchez,Aaron Pryor,Dwight Braxton,Michael Spinks,Matthew Saad Mahammed,Wilfred Benitez, Alexis Arguello,Lupe pintor, "Jolting Jeff" Chandler, Juan LaPorte & so much more gained so much exposure fighting on free tv networks...There was a sign back in the days in Times Square Boxing Gym that read "Think Boxing"

This hurts it too... If you have a handful of diehards here telling you that this is an issue, what makes you think the casual viewer wont see this as an issue.

Maybe you're under the impression that casual fans are constantly looking out for boxing advertisement. I rarely watch TV myself and after 3yrs am still trying to figure out the 1000+ channels on my verizon fios cable. I have yet to catch a PBC commercial or advertisement on tv. Maybe its because I'm not glued to the TV for hours on end. This may be an issue for many casual viewers. I know when there's a PBC matchup because I'm a member of this site. Many casuals arent.

Quality > Quantity. Spreading medicore cards over a plethora of networks on different dates and timeslots isnt the key to growing. Quality cards along with consistency and establishing your brand on 1 or 2 major networks is the key.
Yeah, because you know a lot more about promotion than the most successful concert promoter in the world.

Why complain? TR tried to get on TRU TV after PBC was announced, was that hurting the market considering casuals don't know who is promoted by whom? Oh yeah was GB's buy of TV Estrela or whatever it is, hurting the market?

You just want to see PBC fail. That's all it is. If there wasn't a plan in place there would be no reason for this to happen. Notice a lot Haymon fighters haven't been broadcast yet, thats probably the reason for this tie in, for them to get some airtime before going to the "pros" on CBS/NBC.

And as far as HBO goes they have put on neither quantity or quality this year. Their biggest fights have been mismatches.

But consider this; the mantra of PBC is to bring more boxing to the masses, especially the casual fan. The hard cores will find & tune in to just about any match. However, with the many channels that these fights air on, there really needs to be better marketing/advertising across the channels in order to reach the casual fan base. If casuals don't know where to find the fights, they'll miss them. If they have to look too hard for them, they'll likely just tune in elsewhere, because they're casuals and can take or leave boxing.
True... but like Dunn said in an earlier post... nowadays is so much easier to find what you're looking for you know with the cell phones, laptops, tablets etc...

IMO they can do some kind of message reminders/phone messages something like that so people can sign up for it.

          • So...PBC needs more exposure...what the **** is being on a multitude of channels then?

PBC is hemorrhaging money...so they should spend more on advertising.

            Makes sense

That issue is frankly ******ed. We are talking about finding something on TV that you want to see. My kids could do that when they were 5.

I understand your point about the casual viewer. If Haymon doesn't want to replicate WCB or BAD and place shows on multiple nights, then he is going to have to advertise it better to offset this and the other problems you have listed.

              • For those complaining its too hard to find the fights on TV, we live in 2015. Your TV has a search function and there is this new thing called Google, its crazy, it like a powerful engine designed solely for searching.

The average casual isnt going to go to the lengths of researching who's fighting who on what time and on what channel and on what date. They want an established go to channel where they know there will be boxing on x day and at x time on x channel.
It's not complicated. This is a new thing PBC is trying and to expect casual fans to go out there way to track down these channels, day and times is foolish. Again there are hard core boxing fans who can't even keep up. Sure there might be some who do but most aren't and if you think casual fans are your nuts. The other problem with all these cards and spreading out to the point you have undercard fights as main events and fights that shouldn't even be on a televised undercards is what if you get a casual fan who stumbles on one of these fights for the first time. And it's hot garbage but it has the PBC logo and stamp on it. Good luck getting him to tune in next time on a better channel and time when it's a really main event worthy fight because now he associates bad quality with PBC. It ruins your brand and makes it too hard for fans to keep up. Fewer shows on fewer channels to start would of been the wise move to build the brand at first with high quality fights instead of spreading it out with tons of mismatches.

And yet this whole website is not the audience PBC is trying to get to watch. Boxing fans will find boxing, it's not rocket science. I don't know when the next MMA card is, that's why they do commercials. MMAJunkie42069 knows this **** so he wouldn't be who the commercial was for.

You don't gain NEW fans/audience/clients by moving around your clothing store/TV show. I keeps seeing Dunn say NBA, MLB, NFL... Yeah, we get it they are different channels Dunn. They also get 3-100x's the ratings boxing gets and they are on ESPN ALL the time. There is literally a 24/7 sports network (5 of them at least) that tell you all about the NBA and NFL.

These ratings are also from home teams having their home fans watch. Those teams have been around for 50-100 years on some cases... Boxing doesn't have that loyalty to any fighter. Boxing is a sport but it's nothing like the other sports, the comparison to a TV show is more valid than a sporting event. But again this is only part of the equation, better matchmaking would lead to better ratings as well. I mean how do you really get people to tune in, as casuals to a 30-0 versus a fighter is 33-7 or whatever Paulie was, no one is watching that.
they hit over a mil in views... not bad really.

Apparently reading X Fighter v Y Fighter at a Certain Time on a Certain TV Channel is too much for their pea-sized brains to comprehend
