All that will happen is that Ward will win like everybody expects him too and excuses will be made that GGG was too small.

A win over Kovalev would do much more for SOG at this stage.

No matter what Ward or GGG have said in the past, the facts are right now Ward cant be expected to drop below 168, he might even have an issue making that and GGG shouldn't be expected to move up to 168 yet.

GGG has Lemieux coming up and after that the winner of Cotto/Canelo before he leaves middleweight. It would be foolish for him to pass up the winner of that fight at middleweight to move up right now.

Point is the fight is not happening anytime soon and all the talk from both sides is just talk to keep their names out there and possibly help build the fight eventually. Im not one of the guys who thinks good fights should wait so they can be built up , when its a fight fans want, it should be made and GGG vs Cotto/Canelo is a better fight than GGG vs Ward right now.
If Ward can't comfortably go to 164 then he shouldn't have to. If GGG doesn't want to spot the best 168 pounder in the world 8 pounds then he shouldn't be asked to do so. Ward and GGG are both the best at their weight but they are in different weight classes so they can't make a fight that's fair to both fighters. That doesn't mean anybody is ducking anybody. GGG is doing his job and fighting the most dangerous middleweight in the world next to himself. Ward has lots of good fighters he can fight at 168. He should fight one of the 168 pound belt holders and forget about GGG.

When GGG beats lemieux and beats the winner of cotto vs canelo , what weight do you guys think that GGG vs ward will be? Right, 164 with 65/35 for GGG period.

LOL. Can't believe some people prefer this fight over Kovalev vs Ward, which is more competitive. Ward will just do non-stop clinching on GGG. It's a waste of time and they will have a hard time promoting it. HBO will likely reject it in favor of Kovalev vs Ward.

Lol look @ the post above yours. Now he's trying to deflect and take pressure off of Ward vs GGG. Well, he's been doing it since GGG embarrassed his own fanbase by asking for a cw and ducking Lara.

Why not? Many great fighters throughout history have moved up to full weight divisions. I thought everyone was supposed to be scared of Golovkin when it's actually he, his team and his fans who are scared.

If Golovkin wants to be content with victories over sub-par fighters like Martin Murray and Pepe Le Pew at 160 then so be it. He'll never be as great as his fans proclaim him to be.

Just as GGG gets his unification lined up - Ward does this.

SOG's timing as bad out the ring as it is good inside it.

I also think Ward's timing is off here. GGG was obviously, as is standard procedure, negotiating with more than one potential opponent and now after it has become clear that Lemieux was the chosen one, Ward comes out with this statement. It seems to me that Ward is fresh out of options for his next fight. Maybe he should re-think the Kovalev situation or consider giving the abrahammer a visit in Berlin.

So from a real boxing fan perspective, which is more competitive GGG vs Ward or Kovalev vs Ward?
