And Frampton fight did a 0.8 rating not 1 mil which is laughably bad on network TV. Reruns of Cops on Spike TV (basic cable not network TV) do better ratings then that with a mere fraction of the production budget without having to also spend the multi-millions on the fight purses and the millions spent on CBS to air the fights. PBC pays CBS not the other way around. You combine all the money PBC just lost to get bad ratings.

You're ignoring the fact that CBS was an AFTERNOON show. 1m viewers in the afternoon on CBS is a solid rating. Comparing that to a prime time audience on Spike for Cops makes zero sense.

Not true spike airs Cops reruns all times during the day not just prime time and they beat CBS. For example they aired Cops at frigging midnight on Friday and it pulled a 857K rating higher then PBC got on network tv (800k by the way not 1mil). And HBO has aired fights overseas in the afternoon and gotten higher ratings then CBS did. There are many other sporting events on afternoon weekends that pull higher ratings then CBS did. No matter how you spin it those are terrible ratings for network TV and even worse when you factor how expensive it was to produce and pay the fighters.

Ridiculous comment. You're comparing afternoon ratings to prime time ratings. It's apples and oranges.

Afternoon ratings on network tv versus prime time on premium cable with a fraction of the overall viewers. That's why it's pathetic CBS couldn't do as much as HBO despite paying more then HBO. Not sure if you realise but network tv tends to have much higher ratings because it's in more houses then HBO. I think HBO is in only about 30% of homes compared to CBS which is free and available to everyone. Despite that huge advantage still PBC pulled lousy ratings.

Disagree, Kovs been Headling or co-Headling HBO for like 2 years had like 6 fights with them. 1m isn't impressive it's avg for HBO especially for one of their marquee fighters.

I'm not saying it's horrible but it's false to give props to #s.

You brought up the lowest HBO match this year in comparison any things good compared to that.

Weekend ratings in the summer are always lower than the rest of the year, it is normal. That is why networks do not run their top programming in the summer but replacement summer programming instead.

The co-fight wasnt strong at all. It was a "mismatch", "cherrypick" gone wrong but we as the fans benefitted. Stop acting like you knew but this is why i say dont judge the fights till they happen. And look from the horrible decision we may have a new player in the game (Gonzales)

Wrong wrong wrong . Before the fight even started they said the pascal camp wanted a very tough and challenging fight (not a vacation fight) prior to facing Kov again , so they choose Gonzalez . The scouting report on this guy was dead on , and pascal got just what he asked for . Why do people constantly post uninformed nonsense like this ?

I'm shocked it did over 1M. The fight was an absolute mismatch, even on paper. Yet the fact that it did over 1M tells you that Kovalev has a lot of momentum behind him and the fans enjoy watching him fight regardless of opponent.

Hopefully this doesn't give them an excuse to fight lower level opponents. You want to look a situation like this as a gift and still strive to fight top guys.

I have to give him credit for fighting ANYONE who is willing to get into the ring with him, unlike GGG who wants Ward at 164 but Froch and Chavez at 168.
Kovalev talks trash about every fighter and it will catch up to him soon. There is no way he beats Andre Ward, no way!!!!!!!

All I was saying that 1m isn't a # to brag about its avg. It isn't a bad number I think it did slightly higher then the GGG fight last year which people crucified but adding 50-100k on that and it's is a great sucess. it just isn't a great number like some are making it out to be
