This is why boxing sucks. Stevenson executed the greatest duck of all time and then Kovalev slipped Stevenson's duck and countered with a duck of his own. I mean WTF is this? Now Kovalev is fighting pointless rematches because he can't sell tickets anywhere and Stevenson is fighting lord knows who.

We can't even get diet mega fights anymore. We spend more time talking about business, lawsuits and fantasy fights than we do breaking down matchups.

WTF? They pulled out of the purse bid. I was one of the people calling Stevenson a chicken before. They had the chance to call his bluff and force him to a fight and they pulled out.. I dont want to hear spin doctors or fanboys, Kovalev doesnt get the benefit of the doubt here.. He had the chance to fight him theres NO excuse. You cant hate on Stevenson over this. as long as he is with duva, he is not going to fight stevenson. presumably to fight elsewhere than hbo, his exclusive contract would have to be bought out. he's legally bound. personally i'd like to see kov hook up with hyrunov and ryabinskiy - the only guys in boxing who can outbid haymon. although then of course haymon might still find a way to dodge the fight, like how he has managed to indefinitely postpone wilder's mandatory defence against povetkin

Wrong. Duva didn't know that Michel was going to request an expedited purse bid when when Kovalev was negotiating his new deal with HBO, nor did she know that the WBC would grant Michel's request.

Duva thought Michel would negotiate with her and she could have gotten the fight made by giving them a better cut than the 50/50 they would get if it went to bids.

She asked Michel to call off the bid and negotiate with her instead. If he'd done that, clearly he could have gotten Stevenson a better deal than 50/50 if he fought Kovalev on HBO.

Michel didn't want to know. His aim was to get Superduck out of the fight, not get him more money for doing it.

We all knew about the expediated purse bid way before Kovalev had to sign a new deal. Duva even said that she didnt want to run the risk of losing the fight and then coming back to HBO as a beggar and a loser. One of the few things she didnt lie about, actually.

Duva has NEVER stated that she would give Stevenson more then 50%.

Only in your alternate reality is Michel showing up at the purse bid proof that he wanted to kill the fight. There is NO logic in this at all.

If Duva and HBO were as committed to this fight as they claimed they were, they would have shown up at the purse bid and won.

Kovalev wants no parts of Beterbiev . Every time Beterbiev mentions his name he defers and says something like "he needs more fights"

He hates Beterbiev and it has long roots. He thinks that once in the amateurs Beterbiev was awarded with a win over him due to corruption.
