GGG stock has risen significantly since 2012 he is the A side now and boxing is a business get that through your heads.
GTFO these forums and do some research before posting.

    • Its plain and simple at this point, he'd fight Froch and Chavez Jr at 168, but not Ward, because the level of competition is greater. GGG is just not a fighter who strives for greatness. And his fans would rather watch none competitve fights when he is involved. But they cry when others do it (see Wilder)

      • The problem isn't team GGG and their demands, it's how people portray GGG as being something different. He's the same as any other top fighter in boxing, risk vs reward. They have been content on cashing in their 7 figure paydays against no hopers while playing the victim card...fight anyone, no one will fight me, yada yada yada. This is the first real test that's presented to team GGG and they show their true colors. He's not willing to fight anyone, he doesn't scare everyone (Ward), and he's not a superhero. The guys a fantastic fighter but not a victim like people portray.

IF the fight happens in Montreal or Quebec City, it will be PPV in Canada like every other major fight that happens here featuring a Canadian fighter. Even if it is in the US, it may still be PPV here. That alone will bring in more revenue than Ward's fight on BET and any PBC broadcast to date, probably more than ALL PBC broadcasts to date and Ward on BET combined, actually.

          • Floyd should step up and fight canelo, but ggg shouldnt...step up
wilder 30+Ko's in a row at Heavyweight (but he's fighting nobodies), ggg only 20 (and fighting cans)
Ward should move up in weight but ggg shouldnt

This is why people scream racism, because you guys say one thing about the black fighters and another when it comes to the great white hype. You change the rules when its a black guy, but blatantly change when it applies to our pale skinned boxers. <<<

            • If GGG would be a bum for losing to the #1 168lber, wouldn't that mean that Wards resume is actually a bum resume because the same thing would apply to all the cavemen he beat, right?

Easy work Golovkin, doe. Ward needs to step up and take the challenge or continue fighting plumbers. Ward needs more then GGG needs him. Golovkin has a unification bout with Lemiuex- plus the winner of Cotto-Canelo.....

              Ward? Well...... he has....

This is a case where the boxing fraternity is trying to be too creative, this is not a match up to me. Its interesting only because Glolovkin is knocking out gatekeepers at 160, but this is a mis-match and people are forcing it because Ward sooner rather than later will be moving up to 175. If Glolovkin takes this fight now, the magic to the Golovkin Story ends in a few months, I don't really want to see that happen because I think his career has legs and he needs to be fighting a Canelo in front of 50-100,000 people on PPV, that is where the Golovkin story should make or break. That should be his career trajectory, and after that he has a launch pad to take more risky fights at 168 and even 175.

Ward will beat the snot out of him and shut him out, and all of a sudden you have totally lost the gloss he currently has. He is not like Canelo taking Mayweather either, where he is a young fighter who you can build up again. I think he should just let this one go and let it be for the sake of his career. If it happens down the road then great, if it doesn't then so be it.
Totally agree. How often do fighters move up a division AND fight the #2PfP. Most would go for a feeler fight first - see Danny Garcia vs Paulie.
Trying to interpret behind the scenes - I think Golovkin is over-confident and impatient. He really thinks he can beat Ward at a catchweight. In his own mind he knew he could beat Froch at 168. He is not so sure about Ward at 168. This is normal. Ward is a level, maybe 2, above Froch.
All this Ward fight talk is great promotion for GGG. People go on about how GGG has fought nobody and he is 33. If that is the case then K2 have done a hell of a job getting his name out considering that when the Super 6 was taking place virtually nobody had heard of Golovkin. He was as well known as Braehmer is today.

                • My question is why does GGG have to move up to 168 to fight Ward than have to move back down to 160 to fight the Cotto-Canelo winner.

But Ward can't move to 175 and fight Kovalev first than move back down to 168 to fight GGG.

Seems like a double standard to me.

                  • So to just end the nonsense what GGG said is fair enough, let's get it on !

Ward has not weighed any lower than 166 since 2006 and won't be able, under any circumstances, to get down to 164. Last month, Ward returned for the first time since November 2013 and stopped Paul Smith in nine rounds. That fight took place 172-pounds.

Y'all gonna keep churning up articles on the same ****? We get it, Team GGG wants 50-50 split, 164lbs. I'm embarassed enough to be a fan of GGG right now as it is.

But whatever, hopefully his next few fights will consist of some combination of Lemieux, Lee, Quillin, and maybe (at most) one fight with a contender like Heiland or Johnson in the mix. EDIT: Can't forget Cotto/Canelo winner.
