Comments Thread For: Golovkin on Andre Ward: I Want Him, 50-50 on Weight

WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin is ready to fight Andre Ward, the ruler at 168-pounds - but only if they meet halfway at a catch-weight of 164-pounds.

Ward has not weighed any lower than 166 since 2006 and won't be able, under any circumstances, to get down to 164. Last month, Ward returned for the first time since November 2013 and stopped Paul Smith in nine rounds. That fight took place 172-pounds.

What the hell does 50-50 weight mean? lol

I don't know anything about Ward's current weight situation, but 166, IMO, would be a more reasonable weight offer. Anyways, file this one along with Loma-Rigo under greats fights that can't be agreed upon on.

Should have happened when they both desperately needed the fight

Golovkin is a star now and starting to act like one unfortunately

I hate catchweights but when its guts in 2 different divisions its almost acceptable if the bigger fighter can make it without much loss in performance.
If ward wants it as bad sometimes you just gotta say eff it and step up. If he doesnt plan on moving up there is so much upside to him beating ggg with how much hype golovkin has

Lol Lemieux is not good. He just entered the top 10 at MW for beating N'Dam.

I caught a little bit of him on Sports Nation I believe it was last week? He was hitting Marcellus Wiley.

Go to the 5 minute 12 second mark of the video to see him talking about a Ward fight.
