Youre correct, they're being smart, because Ward will screw up everything they had going, everyone is scared, the most feared/avoided guy, ill fight anyone 154-168 angles he's used, while fighting cans and cab drivers. He doesnt want to step up his level of competition, hey not everyone strives to be great, some people just do enough to get by...

I'm more of the fan of GGG, because he is entertaining. But the Ward situation is mirror like to his own. Just like Golovkin, Ward has options in lower and higher weights. The reasons that they don't have options in their own respective weights are different, but that's beyond the pointl. The weight game is detrimental for both of them. But consider this - losing weight is harder than gaining one, after you gained the extra weight, then lose some and be effective is almost an impossible task. Ward claims that he wants to have his fights in the correct order - first the smaller GGG and then bigger Kovalev. In ideal world GGG also would like to have his fights in the same order - first at the smaller weight (Cotto, maybe even Mayweather, Canelo will also likely try to drain him even though they are exactly the same size and weight, but Canelo is younger and it is easier to cut the weight for him, or so he thinks). If GGG agrees to fight Ward NOW, it will be beneficial for Ward, but not so much for GGG, considering the future options. Ward should recognize this and if he is determined to make the fight, make some concessions. Under these circumstances 164 starts to look like a more fair weight (even though it maybe impacts Ward more). If he has such troubles making 164, then probably it is not a fair fight at all, because he is much bigger...

I'm also not in favor of GGG-Mayweather fight. They are too far apart in weight...Cotto is also kind of small (although not as small as Mayweather), but Cotto himself is less of a target, his 160 lb belt is. The best fights for GGG I would like to see are Lemieux, Lee and Canelo. Maybe Lara as well - just to make this chorus shut up...

A lot of sense in this post. It is not just the one fight you have to consider but how gaining / losing weight will affect future fights/performance.

I guess Andre Ward will have to continue his course of fighting on BET with low ratings against guys who aren't even top 15 SMW's in front comp'd crowds while he loses his promoters millions of dollars because a MW won't move up 8lbs to fight him.


In the meantime y'all be sure to order the Golovkin/Lemieux ppv! Going to be a fun fight. And next year you can order the Golovkin/Alvarez ppv. By then Ward will have retired w/o ever moving up to fight Kovalev.

If GGG-Lemieux is on PPV. It would be a monumental success if it topped 150K buys. GGG has ZERO casual fan base. And very lil to no hardcore fans who aren't GGG fanboys would order.

Why is it difficult for you to understand, I'll fight anyone from 154 to 168, his people last week were claiming that he'd fight Froch at 168, he already said he'd fight Chavez jr at 168 but Ward noooooooooo way, he's saw the damon wayans, samuel jackson movie. He's scared of Ward, and there is no way around it. #2 p4p is calling you out and you say no, but ill fight...everyone else at 168 but just not you....hmmmm i thought it was broken english but maybe he was QUACKING, just like the pac fight, if you put it in slo-mo, you understand better.

JCC and Froch were low risk high reward, Ward is high risk low reward and GGG IS the A-side here, be it wrong or right. Also, GGG is p4p #4 Ring, #3 BR and Ward is not rated. But I know, facts donŽt apply here as this is turning into another Pac-Floyd nonsense. So, IŽll ignore these threads until some kind of agreement is reached for the fight.
