This is what I've been speculating is that they've been trying to court advertisers in recent days (and hoping that it falls apart with the knowledge that Berto probably won't pass as a PPV opponent).
Boxing usually wraps up the year with some good matchups and that's all I hope for this year. Give us something besides Klitschko Fury and Cotto Canelo please!

      No he's with Sauerland.

But if its PPV it should be Brook, for the undisputed. WBO haven't elevated Timmey to full champ yet.

They could bill it as USA v UK.

I knew something was fishy when after being announced by TMZ a few days ago there was no official announcement from Floyd or his team.

My take is they are getting tons of backlash from their chose of opponent along with Showtime/CBS not wanting to take a loss by having to pay Floyd X amount for a fight on free TV.

Haymon needs to step in and put up the money for Floyd's purse as having him fight on PBC would be a huge plus for the brand. Not only fight on it but also be the face and spokesman for PBC moving forward.

PBC is like those kids you see running around in the street but dont know who their parents are. It desperately needs a face with name recognition to accompany the brand.

The same amount I'd pay for Mayweather/Khan: $0. Brook, Thurman, Porter, Lara, GGG, Cotto II or forget it.

Get me Khan - Berto on the under card.

If Khan has been told no, and Floyd refuses to fight for free, I smell a Kell Brook fight coming

This fight is going to struggle to generate money either way. Free TV or PPV. Mayweather will get paid because he has a contract with showtime for guaranteed money. But nobody is going to buy a showtime PPV fight coming off the heals of all the negativity from Mayweather's last fight and you amplify that by choosing such a washed up stiff in Berto. His worst opponent on paper in like a decade. People buy Mayweather's PPV because he was a master at playing the villain and getting people to buy to root against him. Get them to buy hoping to watch him lose. Well that is out the window when vegas opens Berto up at 100-1 underdog.

The way PBC has struggled in TV ratings on network TV and struggled to get commercial ads and again the fact that this is a gross mismatch I don't see the advertise dollars being enough for CBS to pay Mayweather anywhere close to 30mil. At least not without taking a huge loss. And free or PPV Mayweather screwed Showtime and CBS by dragging his feet and playing mind games with releasing the name of his next opponent. Mayweather knows who it is and has been training but like his last few fights this is his new tactic where he waits last minute to try and gain a mental advantage over his opponent and give them less time to prepare or train for him. But it's backfiring because that's less time to promote the PPV or less time to get advertisers for tv commercials.

You add all these factors and his next fight is doomed to lose money. If Mayweather is smart take the Showtime money become a free agent and figure out who and what network you will fight on next year. Because we all know regardless CBS or Showtime his next fight is not his last. There is reason he hasn't vacated his belts like he said he would and why Ellerbe wrote that letter bashing the WBO for stripping one of his belts. Most likely he is fighting Manny in a rematch after Berto. He will try and sell this as his last fight but nobody is buying it.

God, I hope it is on PPV so we can really test how devoted all these guys defending Mayweather/Berto really are. Won't affect me since I'm not watching it either way, assuming that it turns out to be Berto.

That'd make sense if those fights were equally bad, which they clearly aren't.
