This time it's about both (Cotto and Canelo)... And the rumour that GBP would "allow" Lemieux to fight GGG next it's some sort of a proof that Canelo has to sign the WBC agreement also...

... in case Ward managed to get Golovkin mad, GGG would have voiced some real dirty talk by now... which he didn't...

what does he mean by pleasantly surprised? is he admitting that ggg has had mediocre opponents throughout most of his reign?

Tie in where he said he called HBO before going on air and the inference is clear that as Ward understands it, the network has no plans for the bout in 2015.
An educated guess reads that Golovkin wouldn't fight Ward until he gets the WBC/Ring (and the IBF) belts at the MW...

That seems to be the implication

The person he's likely talking about is Lemieux. It's pretty easy to see why they are in no hurry to move up in weight with the chance of a Canelo fight is right around the corner and pretty good unification fights against Lemieux and possibly Andy Lee in the meantime.

If Golovkin can get those fights, he could pick up the IBF title next (Lemieux), followed by the WBO (Lee) and finally the WBC/Ring belts against Canelo. That's the ideal scenario for the next three fights.

Yeah, I think the window of opportunity for GGG/Ward has closed now, for a while anyway. I can't see GGG moving up for Ward when he is within sight of his No1 goal, unification at MW.

GGG has beaten everybody at MW who was brave enough to fight him.

It would be a very pleasant surprise if one of the other belt holders, eg Lemieux, was willing to fight him next.

Or maybe that another champion is fighting him after all this years.
