This is what happens when you have inexperienced promoters. They both feel by calling, you are already the B-side in the negotiations.
All posturing, based on what Ward said towards the end of his ESPN I don't believe either side is taking the bout in 2015 and more importantly the paymasters HBO don't want it yet.

Interesting to hear Golovkin is going back to New York in the Autumn/Fall. I had previously read they were heading to San Antonio, seemingly not.

So I imagine he'll have no problem making 160 for Golovkin too?

Golovkin will go to 168 for a decent payday (Chavez Jr, Froch) but Ward can't draw flies.

Andre Ward is a selfish prima donna who will demand home advantage so he can use a crooked California referee who will permit him to head butt and clamp Golovkin's arms all night.

Ward needs to be a man and fight Kovalev in the fall. Kovalev knows how to avoid head butts now, having fought Agnew and Hopkins, and he's too strong for Ward to hold.
Ward will make 160 for Mayweather because it's financially worth it. Plus he's fighting the #1 pound for pound guy and most popular boxer in the world.

GGG is a relative UNKNOWN in America.

That's the same reason GGG would go to 154 for Mayweather but not for Lara.

      Use your common sense.

GGG will go to 168 for Froch but wants catchweight for Ward. Ward is more popular and bigger draw in America than Froch is. Plus Ward already beat a PRIME Froch.

GGG and his fans are SCARED to death of Andre Ward.

#FACTS! #TEAM GGG DON'T WANT IT #COME TO OAKLAND AND GET YOUR ASS KICKED!

        You're missing the point.

Im using actual proven PPV fighters as a measuring stick to assess how much this fight would generate, with comparisons.

You're just making baseless assumptions. I just dont agree with you. If this fight had great promotion then who knows. Chavez-Martinez only did 300k buys, and yes that was a fight people gave a **** about. Your level of interest in the examples im giving doesnt represent the actual interest those fights garnered.

          Nonsense.

Ward is unpopular and can't draw flies - he had to give away tickets near ringside for his last fight!

In contrast, Froch has sold out a big stadium in London, UK for a PPV fight.

I dont buy it. One day GGG's team claims they only want to focus on fighting a MW title holder their next fight, another day they are willing to have non title fights against Chavez, Mayweather or Froch(168). Theres no consistency there to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Cotto became relevant again after beating Martinez, he was seen as damaged goods before that so ofcourse they wouldnt have interest in him

Like I said, I dont buy it because I remember Martinez being the MW champion and calling out Mayweather and Cotto. Its starting to look like a trend. Middleweight division has been dry for ages, before Martinez, Hopkins was also banking on smaller guys moving up for his paydays. Again, why give GGG the benefit of the doubt?

No, he would still be calling out Cotto.

            • Team GGG wants to use the Bernard Hopkins blueprint at 160 and make all the little guys with big names come up to 160.

Hopkins did it with Tito/De La Hoya.

GGG is trying to do the same thing with Cotto/Canelo/Mayweather while DUCKING Andre Ward and praying he moves up to 175 so GGG can eventually set up shop at 168 after beating the little guys.

Team GGG and his fans would be wise just to STFU about Andre Ward because we all know GGG and his peeps don't want that. They know facing Ward is an instant L.

Ward will have GGG looking like Ricky Hatton after facing Floyd.

Again, Andre Ward is a bigger draw in AMERICA than Carl Froch is. PERIOD.

Plus, Ward already exposed and beat an UNDEFEARED PRIME Froch.

GGG is trying to fight the burnt out, old version of Froch. GGG is actually everything the Mayweather haters accused Maywearther of being. A cherry picking DUCK!

We both raised the same point. Before GGG, Martinez was doing this(Or trying to) and before Martinez it was Hopkins getting smaller guys to move up for his paydays. We've seen this before in the Middleweight division, its nothing new, and its widely known the biggest jump in weight is 160 to 168, which is why most middleweights settle down at 160 and try to lure smaller fighters to move up for paydays

                  • lol, both of these guys ain't gonna talk any actual offers till 2016 at least guaranteed. But if they do make the fight in 2015, then I'll be ****ing stoked. I think it's a competitive fight, with Ward being a non-prohibitive favorite. I like both guys so I will be a little torn, but it's an incredible matchup.

Like Hopkins made Calzaghe come up to 175 and Pavlik come up to 170.
