Dude is delusional to think that he didn't have "a level playing field" because the ref wouldn't allow him to do that all night. I like Ricky and man did he have balls of steel, he did a good job in that fight, but you cant say you didnt get a fair fight because you weren't allowed to foul. I mean, how many headlocks did he put Floyd in, 100?
Well said. Thing is, Hatton could fight however he wanted in Manchester; excessive holding, holding and hitting, low blows, will be afforded more time to clear his head when hurt (the Lazcano fight comes to mind).

He didn't get away with all of that when he was away from home. While I agree that it wasn't the best refereeing performance, Cortez simply didn't allow him to pull his head down or hold with one arm while throwing punches with the other. A big portion of this fight was contested on the inside and Hatton got schooled there.

How about the story Hatton told of when both him and Floyd were flying to a location on their press tour on seperate jets and Floyd became irate that Hattons' plane was in front of his and scheduled to land first. Floyd was threatening the pilot and offered to pay him whatever he wanted just so that he can land his plane before Hatton.

Yet Cortez allowed Floyd to continuously use his elbow throughout the fight and commit other fouls. That's what Hatton is complaining about.

When watching that fight there were times where once they got close Cortez was breaking them up. One time he even broke them up during an exchange of punches and the HBO crew called him out on it and asked why he was breaking them up mid action.

I loved the look on Floyd's fans faces during the first 6 rounds of the fight...similar to Floyd/Maidana 1..unfortunately, I think this fight ended Hatton as a top tier fighter..

The quotes are out there, I can post them if you want. If the fight was going to happen, it was always going to be in the US on Floyd's terms even when he was the B-side because he was unwilling to travel to the division's champion.

Moreover, Hatton is not a bigger guy than Floyd who was even calling him a midget in the build-up.

So Vegas is not Floyd's hometown now...lol. Wherever you think he's originally from, in boxing terms it's his hometown.

            Marquez summed it up best:
            False.

In an International Press conference held yesterday, Ricky Hatton was told that Bruce Trampler of Top Rank, now former promoter had said that Ricky turned down a fight with Mayweather at least twice this year and that he would not be facing him this year. Hatton was asked if this was correct?

Here is what Ricky Hatton had to say on the subject:

RICKY HATTON: Well, me personally it wasn***8217;t done but I mean I can't be speaking for their; you know for my team or to be honest this year it would be ****** to admit with a fight with Mayweather because I have so many problems with; problems outside the ring where my father promoted (INAUDIBLE) obviously we were sitting trying to do a deal with HBO.

Reagarding Marquez, he got his ass kicked throughly by Mayweather. Anybody who thinks Mayweather was getting any favors from the judges in that fight is nothing more than a joke on this site.

Although it's true that Joe Cortez was a disgrace in Hatton-Mayweather, to be fair, Dave Parris in Hatton-Tszyu was pretty bad too.

Hatton could have been DQed for that deliberate low blow against Tszyu, but he wasn't even deducted a point.

It's all very well saying Floyd wanted the fight, but he would only agree to it on his terms in the United States when he wasn't the lineal champ filling up stadiums.
Bull****. Ricky went to the states because there'd be more exposure there. Obviously, the Floyd fight would be the cherry on top.

Dont forget that Floyd was the one who started 2 divisions lower then Hatton and is much smaller than Ricky on fight night. Floyd didnt go to WW because he was big. He went to WW to chase the Oscar fight. He shouldn't have been at WW himself. He was just talented enough to do it.

I also love how people try to claim Vegas is Floyd's hometown. Floyd is from Michigan. Half the boxing public lives in Vegas when they become pros but somehow its only Floyd's hometown despite the fact that he's rarely the crowd favorite in any fight. Hatton is not better then Floyd. He never was and never will be. Thats why he lost and its that simple
Yet ricky is shorter. And has shorter arms.

lol all your link did was confirm what I was saying, Mayweather refused to fight Hatton in the UK when Hatton was the lineal champ and the draw:

I mean for instance Floyd Mayweather, you know, said on many occasions a few years back he would come to Manchester and he would fight me in front of me own crowd and he would knock me out and do all this crap what hes been saying and now hes all of a sudden decided seems a bit cautious (INAUDIBLE) and dont during over the last 12 months he didnt want to come to Manchester.

So, you know, if I was going to be (INAUDIBLE), you know, maybe he dont want to fight me. He said he was going to come to Manchester now hes changed his mind.
                      From your link.
