In an International Press conference held yesterday, Ricky Hatton was told that Bruce Trampler of Top Rank, Mayweather's now former promoter had said that Ricky turned down a fight with Mayweather at least twice this year and that he would not be facing him this year. Hatton was asked if this was correct?

Here is what Ricky Hatton had to say on the subject:

I'm going on Mayweather's own quotes, his words. Now you've provided corroboration with Hatton's words. Of course that won't be enough for you because it doesn't suit.

He didn't confirm it either, he said he couldn't speak for his team. But it's irrelevant because those offers would have been to fight in the US when the fight should've been in a stadium in the UK given Hatton was the champ and ticket seller - where Mayweather refused to go.

Trampler isn't the promoter anyway, he was/is Top Rank's matchmaker.

On Gatti, he was the A-side, the fight was on PPV, Gatti was the draw. Floyd complained about having to travel to New Jersey, he wanted to fight in Las Vegas or even NY and a good whinge about it.

I'm not real big on excuse making, but Cortez ****ed Hatton pretty good in that fight. I'm not going to say Hatton would have won, but it is better to watch 1v1 than 2v1 as a boxing fan. It might be justice for the ref job in Hatton against Tszyu, which I'm sure he isn't complaining about.
