I do think fans underrate him slightly. It's hard not to think of him badly after how badly Pacquiao kicked his ass, plus the whole cage thing.

He is a solid fighter though. Certainly not some bum.

Algieiri only gets fights with major names because he has little experience and no pop in his punches.

It's hard to celebrate anything about him because he gets opportunities based on what he lacks, not what he has.

Yes. He has good wins over Taylor and Provodnikov and put up a great fight against Khan.

He gets hated on because he undeservedly landed the Pac fight but the anger should have been taken out on Pac and Top Rank instead of Algeiri.

Algieri can sneak into the Top 10 at 147 if he continues to fight there...

fast learner & probably one of the most dedicated fighters in the sport right now..

Interesting reading all your mixed responses. Everyone bringing Khan up, this is not a Khan tread and he should not be mentioned in this particular thread unless we're talking about the Algieri fight. You might all hate Khan but that's the same reason every Khan thread gets a lot of hits.

Chris is a nice and he always tries to reply back to all fans on his social media so I wish him the best and lets hope he puts a few of the other pretenders in the division in a cage lol. Plus he genuinely knows his stuff when it comes to nutrition. I've asked him for advice a few times.

But that's the reason you brought him up.

If he hadn't fought Khan you would have never mentioned him. Probably reiterated what Khan said about him before the Pacquiao fight that he was a C level fighter.

No, boxing has treated him VERY well indeed.
                He hasn't made $2million yet.

He got 100k for Provo, $1million for Pacquiao and 500k for Khan.

Chris Algieri is one heck of a talent. I'm always amazed that a guy with 0 amateur background fought and won a title within 20 fights. There are national champs that require 10 eliminators and 30 plus fights to win one. Use of hands is negligible in kickboxing, so it is irrelevant. He is also a great role model given he has a Masters degree in a Science subject and not another posh kid with a PPE or Social Justice degree lol. Not everyone can relate to "rags to riches" back story so, he represents/inspires a new breed of fighters.

Provodnikov wasn't his one hurrrahh like some other fighters out there instead he holds a win over a solid contender ie Emmanuel Taylor. He got this far with a kickboxing trainer, so imagine the amount of potential a proper boxing trainer in Jackson would properly channel?

He is laughed on and not taken seriously cuz of the "out of the cage" joke. That's all it is.

He didn't deserve a fight with Pac and I thought he lost by a twat hair against Prov. As some of said he's more of a fitness guru than a boxer.
