Chris Algieri is the most underrated fighter in his division. A fighter with his experience went the distance with Manny Pacquiao which is an achievement in itself, In his Khan fight I would even say he made Khan look like **** compared to what was expected, With his new trainer I think he will become a dangerous contender in the Welterweight division.
Is Chris Algieri treated unfairly by boxing fans?

That doesn't make it a fact which is how you've presented it. Unless they were some pot washers he found on the street. This thread reeks of trying to hype up Khan but I'll put in my two cents..
Algieri is a good boxer. I don't think anyone has denied that. I thought he performed really well and boxed the piss out of Provodnikov but Ruslan is C-level. He looked completely out of his depth against Pacquiao but almost beat Khan, could have got a draw.
I don't think he was extra special against Khan or that Khan was bad. He just figured out the best way to beat Khan and that Khan didn't have the power to hurt him. Plus Khan always struggles when he isn't the taller, longer fighter.
I would rate him as a B minus fighter.

Given the fact that Algieri has made maybe 5 million dollars from being beaten twice and decked 6 times in his last 2 fights....
No, boxing has treated him VERY well indeed.Comment

He ran for dem dere hills in his biggest fight, then did alright against featherfisted khan and now people talk about him like some killer.
there was a thread after the khan fight titled, and im not kidding "My god Algieri is good" and it wasn't trolling.
he's treated too wellComment

Algieri's problem is that nobody likes him.
He screwed up massively with his marketing. On the face of it he should have been a hit. He's articulate and relatively intelligent. He's good looking. Not Oscar-level but not Provodnikov either. He's also big into nutrition and all that new age stuff that's mainstream with the young middle class now.
But he couldn't help being a smug, annoying prick, and the hardcore fans & media took an instant dislike to him. He's obviously hard-working and got very far with an incompetent trainer. But given how irritating he is I think he would need a very big win to get people on his side again.Comment

Algieri beat Provodnikov when everyone said Porvo would kill him and had to fight through a bloodied, swollen, battered face.
He went into the Pac fight and showed heart, admittedly not much else but then again, this is Pacquiao we're talking about.
Against Khan, when he knew he was beaten for speed and skill, he decided to completely change his style and slug it out, almost getting a win in a close, tough fight.
All of these fights, against world ranked opponents were one after the other.
Of course he deserves respect.Comment
