You get the idea though, Lara could suck at 160. But regardless they should make it though if he's available.

Stylistically I just don't see it being very competitive. I've seen Lara get tossed around like a rag doll against Angulo and get lucky to escape with a draw against Molina, so to me Golovkin is the worst possible style and opponent for him to face. If he had some more pop and some more offensive tools, yeah it would be interesting but Lara is who he is, he wouldn't even be more offensively minded against Rodriguez who was tailor made for him, I think GGG walks right through him but as they say, only one way to find out. Here's to hoping HBO and Haymon come together.

And you know what, you could absolutely be right! Weight does play a factor and there's no debating that, it's just (imo) when fighters are close in weight I think skill plays a much bigger factor.

To your other point, I do think GGG would be the favorite and rightfully so. Lara would be on the back foot all night which would play into GGG's favor tremendously, especially because Lara doesn't have the best of offensive firepower. Still a fight I'd like to see, because neither are going to have a chance to fight a name as big as each other until next year

I have no interest in a track meet. If Canelo had him running, think of what GGG does. If he sat in the pocket and circled, slipped and countered GGG, then it would be an interesting fight. Otherwise, it is a dud.

When you think about it, Haymon and the PBC should push for this fight. Make whatever concession they have to, let Lara fight on HBO. If Lara loses, they don't give a ****. He's an unpopular fighter, they aren't going to make any money off him. However, if he wins (and he would have a chance to, even though he wouldn't be a favorite) he derails one of the guys who is set be the cornerstone of HBO Boxing for the next few years.

I still doubt Haymon would let him fight, or that HBO would accept him.

Lara gets KO'd quick if he fought GGG at 160. Golovkin is able to work using forward momentum and fighting Lara means you're guaranteed to have many jabs and straight lefts you will slip. I do not think Lara can withstand Golovkin's power for even 8 rounds even if by a miracle he is winning the majority of the rounds, he will succumb to the pressure and power and get stopped.

GGG has better movement than Canelo does as well.

Lara is the most over-rated, over-hyped boxer at Bscene right now.

I'll say this for him though - if boxing was a non-contact sport and points were awarded for dancing, posing, and flicking 6/7 light jabs per round at your opponents gloves, then Erislandy Lara would be P4P No 1.

No doubt! If GGG can handle him I'll have a lot of respect for GGG.

Lara has lost every meaningful fight at light middleweight and been hurt by several smaller, lighter punchers than GGG. What do you think happens to him at mw against a guy like Golovkin?

Lara has real skills and you will be able to see how 3xG would do against a technical defensive fighter.

Yes, obviously. It's only 6 pounds.

And if it happened, once Golovkin slaughtered him the people saying he's quality would say he's a midget super welterweight, while the people calling him a midget super welterweight would say he's a heavier Rigondeaux.
