I doubt Kovalev is very happy with her right now.
People need to stop treating fighters like ignorant children. Kovalev is a grown man and knew what was happening. Duva couldn't have done any of this without Kovalev's consent.

Then they should keep their "small business" mouths firmly shut!!! Am tired of the same old "they are ducking me or they are ducking us story" then when they get offered the fight they run away with excuses, I saw Bradley doing this with Khan, now Kovalev with Adonis, I even went far to called Adonis a ducker only to find out that it was the opposite.

Terms of Kovalev's contract gave HBO the right of first refusal of his next fight after the expiration of the contract. Yvon Michel was well aware of that fact as Stevenson had the same clause in his contract when his expired.

Due to that clause, HBO would certainly have exercised their right to broadcast the fight which prevented Kovalev from going to purse bid. Knowing this fact, Yvon Michel refused to even consider negotiations and requested a purse bid in the hope that losing the bid, Kovalev would also refuse the fight and lose his mandatory status. In effect this was achieved without even having to go to purse bid.
Thank you for clearing that up.

Stevenson should fight Kovalev on HBO, its easily his best option. Since he left HBO for Showtime/Haymon, his numbers(and opponents) have been pitiful. And he's a Montreal guy, its really a feat to do that poorly in one of North America's Best boxing markets, double so as Canada's best rated fighter and lineal champ

I don't care myself, not a fan of Kovalev really, I just want to see the fight. But Kovalev doesn't strike me as the sort of guy that's scared of Stevenson. To me, it seems like he really wants the fight, bad. Maybe Duva explained to him that they need to play a little dance first or whatever, and Kovalev trusted her, or maybe Kovalev is pissing in his pants at the thought of the guy who got dropped by Fonfara, I have no idea.

you don't know the boxing business very well if you think promoters ask fighters for "consent" before planning moves. LMFAO

No, you were right originally. Stevenson ducked. read Barcham's post above. PBC did not want the fight
