And? The IBF had no objection. And she said in multiple interviews that Stevenson was going to drop that title and withdraw. I think she was caught offguard when they called for an early purse bid.

Moving the purse bid to a later date would have made no difference as Kovalev would have signed his new contract by then. Kovalev will never fight anywhere other than on HBO and Stevenson will never fight anywhere other than a PBC network or Showtime. That is the way it is and these politics will prevent this fight from happening.

The only way out of such situations is to have a 'purse bid' clause in a fighter's contract that permits him to fight on another network in the event of losing a purse bid. I think all sanctioning bodies should make such a clause mandatory if a fighter wishes to be able to hold one of their titles.

This isn't really about exclusively fighting on a particular network, or purse bids or any other political gobbledegoop. This is about Stevenson & his backers not wanting to have his star status krushed by a Kovalev ass whipping.

Stevenson is a piece of shit coward and a disgrace to boxing. He ducked Kovalev, Hopkins and Pascal.

The cowards Ward and Stevenson are scared to death of the best light heavyweight in the world Sergey Kovalev

That's my whole point. There was no legal problem whatsoever preventing a Stevenson-Kovalev fight like you originally suggested. Moving the date would make no difference because Kovalev and Duva were full of shit. The whole situation was only a problem because Kovalev and Duva unnecessarily made it a problem.

Haymon had no problem with letting Stevenson go to HBO if Duva won he purse bid. The only problem here was Kovalev and Duva.

Duva said in multiple interviews that she wasn't worried about being outbid because HBO had Kovalev's back. When it became clear that HBO was NOT going to offer up as much as she expected, she pulled back.
Yep. Duva dropped the ball big time and in doing so has made Kovalev look bad.

I doubt Kovalev is very happy with her right now.

Ward can pick on and beat up the GGG's, Groves's and Degale's of the world until Krusher and Adonis clear the air
Then I guess you shouldn't object to GGG cleaning up his own division before fighting Ward? Strange double standard, really.

HBO was not gonna win the purse bid cause Haymon is working with unlimited resources, pretty much. So the LHW fight they wanted the most was gonna end up on another channel if it went to purse bid. Still whatever HBO is willing to offer is far beyond Stevenson's other options easily the best money and exposure available to him. But maybe he prefers his streak of fighting bums on showtime with pathetic ratings and attendance

I'll give you Stevenson but leave Ward out of this. Andre Ward is far from a coward.

Adonis Stevenson is the chump that jumped ship to Shotime before he could get it on with Kovalev. I feel strongly that Stevensen wants no part of Kovalev.

However, Andre Ward has already defeated strong EURO Champions before. I seriously doubt Kovalev mentally troubles Andre Ward.

Bernard Hopkins went on record stating he never wants to fight Andre Ward. Not because they're friends or business partners. He knows Ward is an automatic L on his record.

That same Hopkins fought Kovalev at 50 and was not seriously hurt, or concussed. He went all 12 and lived to talk about it. This is impressive because Kovalev is supposed to be a feared fighter and massive puncher.
